A Third Man Comes Forward To Accuse Kevin Clash Of Having Sex With Underage Boys

A third man has come forward to accuse and sue Kevin Clash of having sex with him when he was an underage minor. As you should be well aware by now, Kevin Clash — famous as the voice of Elmo on Sesame Street — was first accused by a young man who claimed the pair enjoyed a sexual relationship when he was underage. As a result of that first accusation, Clash took a leave of absence from his Sesame Street duties. A week later, a second man accused Clash of having underage sex with him … and as a result of that second accusation, Clash resigned from his Sesame Street duties altogether. Now we have a third accuser coming forward with new details of alleged impropriety and altho nothing has yet been proven as true, the story continues to get more and more disturbing.

Kevin Clash — the former voice of Elmo — used alcohol as a precursor to oral sex with an underage boy … this according to a new lawsuit that has just been filed by a THIRD accuser. According to the lawsuit, filed in federal court in Manhattan and obtained by TMZ, the alleged victim met Clash on a gay phone chat line when he was 16 and Clash was approximately 40. The accuser — now 28 — says he was in NYC pursuing modeling opportunities when Clash invited him to his swanky NYC apartment, which was strewn with Elmo dolls and photos of Elmo with famous people, including Beyonce and Tyra Banks. During the encounter, the accuser — who refers to himself as John Doe — claims Clash plied him with alcohol and “groomed him,” and then engaged in sexual contact that included “oral sex and digital penetration of John’s anus.” The accuser says Clash stayed in touch with him after the sexual encounter, although no further sexual contact occurred until he became an adult. The accuser is suing for unspecified damages.

Ugh. I firmly believe that a person is innocent until proven guilty but it’s getting harder and harder to keep the faith here. It is entirely possible that these allegations will be proven untrue but it’s also possible (and very likely) that Clash will reach financial settlements with his accusers and we won’t know for sure what the truth really is. One accusation was bad, two accusations proved to be pretty bad but this third accusation seems kinda damning. I have to say, it’s getting more and more depressing to see these photos of Clash and the lovable Elmo side-by-side with these underage sex allegations. Sadly, I don’t think any of this will go away any time soon. Blah. Any guesses how long it will take Accuser #4 to come forward?

As much as I wanted to believe him at first it is looking worse and worse.

The only red flag is that he was meeting these boys in a gay phone line, which would have an 18+ age requirement. He could not have known? But that seems unlikely at this point and wishful thinking.

    • @Hannah — I know exactly how you feel. ANYONE can make ANY accusation and NOTHING CAN BE PROVED and yet, the more it happens the guiltier the person looks … even without proof. This is just so sad.

    It’s really so sad!

I don’t think I can look at Elmo the same way ever again, especially when he interacts with kids. If Elmo wasn’t the backbone of the show I would have wanted Sesame Street to find a way to write him out. Maybe an episode about moving and saying goodbye. But what’s even more disturbing is that Clash has enough of Elmo filmed to have his voice heard until 2014. Then his understudies take over the role. I hope this is the last we hear of victims coming forward, but as with other sex scandals of this nature others come forward only after they realize it’s safe to do so. All so unnecessary. I’m sure it’s hard to look his wife and daughter in the face these days and his daughter is old enough (19 I believe) to understand exactly what’s going on.

    • @Joanna — “as with other sex scandals of this nature others come forward only after they realize it’s safe to do so”

Yes, this is true but it is also true that other opportunists can also lie in order to get in on the settlement action when no wrongdoing ever took place. We just don’t know for sure :(

ICK! I just want to snatch Elmo off his hand and throw him in the washing machine. What a sad mess.
