Last Minute, Late Night Comfort

Yesterday was my last full day here in Detroit and for the most part, I spent 99% of it doing, well, nothing. I worked for a bit and then spent the rest of the day slacking like a mofo. Sarah braved the Black Friday craziness for a bit but I opted to stay home … which was nice because I’ve really not been in the mood to do much lately. Last night, tho, we decided that I should prolly get out of the house so we picked up Agnes and made our way to The Living Room in Berkley, MI for some pizza and martinis … just like the good ol’ days.

The Living Room and I go back a LONG ways so it was kind of a no-brainer when it came to picking a place for some comfort food. Agnes had never been so we had to show her what she’s been missing. A lot of martinis were drank, lots of delicious pizza was ate … a good time was had by all. It was nice to just turn off my brain for a bit and just be in the moment, laughing with friends in a familiar and safe place. My time at the Living Room was rejuvenating a bit so, yeah, I’m glad I went out.

In a few hours, I fly back to LA and say goodbye to Detroit for the last time this year. I don’t have any plans to return for a while so … it’ll be a sad goodbye. I’ll be back in LA soon enough, back to the “normalcy” of my newly reconfigured life. I’m looking forward to the day when my normalcy will be a comfortable one … but I’m not nearly there yet. The warm sunshine back home will help tho. That’s the main thing I’m very much looking forward to returning home to.
