Elizabeth Banks is definitely one of my Hollywood faves. I happen to subscribe to her blog, which is sort of working woman/fashion/feminist-y/comedic/political/mommy site all in one. Yesterday she sent out an e-mail with the subject title It’s A Boy and I was like, whaaaaaat?!?!?! And indeed, it is a boy. Elizabeth Banks and her producer/author husband Max Handelman welcomed their second son, who was born via gestational surrogate, to the world so congratulations are seriously in order! Elizabeth Banks welcomes baby boy Magnus:
As 2012 winds down and Thanksgiving approaches, I have much for which to be thankful – personal, professional, and Presidential.
However, nothing can match the joy and excitement my husband and I felt when we recently welcomed our second baby boy, Magnus Mitchell Handelman.
Magnus joins older brother Felix, thus commencing a decade or more of close hand to hand combat.
Like Felix, Magnus was born via gestational surrogate. This experience has exceeded all expectations, taught us a great deal about generosity and gratitude, and established a relationship that will last a lifetime. I am also so very thankful to our family and friends for their support throughout this process, as well as the Center for Surrogate Parenting for helping make all this possible.
I now turn my attention to managing two boys under two. For which I am thankful. And all their poop. For which I am less thankful.
Wish me luck.
Good luck Elizabeth! And– OMG– welcome to the two boys club (yes, there’s totally a club)! I had no clue at all that Elizabeth and her husband were planning on having another baby so this is totally surprising and totally awesome. Elizabeth has a lot of cool tools on her site for mothers, and of course it’s all very funny and very cool. I know she’ll be able to handles these two little guys; she’s got a sense of humor and it pretty much all starts there.
Welcome to the world Magnus Mitchell! Here’s hoping we get to see some baby pics stat! And how shocked are you guys that Elizabeth is now a mommy of two?! Please join me in sending well wishes her way. As with all new parents I wish her as much rest as is humanly possible, AKA 4-4.5 hours of sleep a night :)
