‘They Should Have Urshered Him To The Back Of The Line’ And Other Awesomeness In PITNB Reader Comments This Week

First of all, can we just acknowledge what an absolutely CRAY week this was? President Obama is still President Obama, Rihanna lost her damn mind, and Justin and Selena Gomez went the way of DUNZO?! And on top of all that, Halle Berry lost the custody battle of the year. Madness. Now last week we had our first post celebrating the general awesomeness of Pink Is The New Blog reader comments and it was hella fun. This week I had an equally amazing time collecting just a few of my fave comments. Click inside to checkie out!

PITNBR Brent had Trent and me cracking up when he shared his thoughts on Usher (AKA Ursher) skipping the line at the voting polls on election day:

I feel they should have urshered him to the back of the line just like anyone else.

PITNBR JJ made a very apt observation about Kristen Stewart’s Balenciaga look at a screening for On The Road. There were a lot of competing views (to me, she looked amazing) but when JJ wrote this, I thought he kinda nailed it:

Love the outfit, love the hair, and I love the makeup! Hate the posture and the stunned look on her face! If you are going to wear this outfit and make it work, you need to OWN IT! Which is why for Kristen, this outfit doesn’t work! She doesn’t have the POW factor to pull it off.

PITNBR Serenity joined in on the awkward, yet hilarious, Justin Bieber (AKA Just-In-Beaver) sex doll conversation. She had the best idea ever, and made an unforgettable reference to Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants:

I think we should all chip in to get this doll and never take it out of the box. It’ll be like a twisted version of “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” except this thing can take turns sitting on our coffee tables or something.

PITNBR Rachel really made me happy with this one. Sooo many of us were losing our shizz over the new Rihanna/Chris Brown track, and all its implications. But Rachel just joined the convo to show some love to all of us. And for that, we thank her:

I have nothing new to bring to the table, I just wanted to LOVE ON Y’ALL for being so smart, thoughtful and eloquent. And no one is fighting each other here in the comments! Well played, PITNB-ers. Shannon, you’re really learning how to court the readers will all your shout-outs. Also well played.

PITNBR miguel had some great break-up advice for Selena Gomez. Love his use of quotation marks, lol:

Hell yeaah! “Write” that killer break up anthem for 2013 Sel-G!!

PITNBR emily kinda went iiin on another reader who suggested that Beyoncé (in voting for Obama and marrying Jay-Z) ‘ has a history of poor choices.’ We don’t have a lot of beef on this site but emily’s über-sarcastic response was so classic (and so on point, lol), I had to share:

You’re totally right SIN … her decision to have a music career? Well that flopped. Her decision to go solo? Embarrassing failure. Her decision to marry a man who loves her and will be a dedicated father? Truly atrocious. Her decision to vote for someone who will protect her rights as a woman? Abominable. Why do they let her out of the house? She’s a train wreck of terrible decisions! Never saw it that way before, thanks SIN!

PITNBR KJ was sooo not feeling Scarlett Johansson’s new ‘minimalist’ style tattoo, along with a lot of us:

I thought this was for a movie… this is real?! LOL. I’m totally passing judgement.

PITNBR ClaireMichelle shared her thoughts on the story about Lady Gaga’s new video, which really should have been Kendrick Lamar’s new video for his song Bitch Don’t Kill My Vibe. I loved what she wrote because she said in one comment what it took me, like, six paragraphs to get out:

What. I mean… What. So, basically she shuts the song down but then decides she likes it again and just passes it off as her own. Cool. Cool, cool, cool.

PITNBR Sam also had a pretty hilarious response to the video:

Bitch just totally killed my vibe with this ish

PITNBR Jake brought some much-needed clarity on the Terry Richardson/Obama post. I’d never seen those insane photos before and totally thought they were new at first, mainly because Terry had just posted them on his blog (in time for the election). Even though I HATE to make mistakes on here, I appreciate when readers politely point me in the right direction, lol:

You might want to add that the photos are from 2007. It puts things in context a little better, rather than Obama being a sitting president taking time to do the photo shoot with the creepy photog. The post is kind of misleading as it currently reads Shannon.

We also had so many amazing, insightful, intelligent comments on the post about the woman who got fired for a racist, menacing comment she wrote about President Obama on Facebook. We were all floored by the woman’s attitude, but I thought it sparked a great discussion. So shouts-out to PITNBRS Claire Michelle, Megan, smASH, laurenl, Nick Zimmer (thanks for the edit, lol), Brent (hilarious, again), woodroad34 (who introduced me to the word ‘cabal’), Sofia, Kat, blaqfury, Meghan, Ella, Lauri, Homer Zerrudo, muchacha, and nony, all of whom shared their thoughts, anecdotes, and opinions. Y’all are so friggen eloquent, it’s ridiculous.

And thanks to all the readers!!! Keep the comments coming and meet me here next week!

Love that you’re taking time to give shout outs to your readers! I’ll have to come up with something witty to say to end up on a future post ;)

    • Shannon

I didn’t comment on this b/c I was a few days past the posting, but the way several readers reacted to the “woman in CA who wrote racist things on her fb” story disturbed me. We have such a great community here, filled with open minded and intelligent people. A majority of those comments were the opposite – derogatory, hateful, spiteful and adolescent. There were comments about her weight, her intelligence and just plain rude things. The last handful of comments were thoughtful, but the first few were just … mean. I understand getting all fired up (Hello, I laid in SIN with my sarcasm about Beyonce) but one of the things I love about this blog is the open-mindedness of the readers. I’m still thinking about those comments because they were so off character for this blog. In the age of a divided country, we need to stop passing judgement and start behaving like respectful adults. OK, ok, a little snark can happen from time to time, but keep the bullying away from comments, it’s just not PITNB style!
