Listen: Mariah Carey Releases A Song For President Obama Titled ‘Bring It On Home’

Mariah Carey, a staunch supporter of President Obama, has just released a song in his honor titled Bring It On Home for our listening pleasure. It’s unknown if this song will be featured on her upcoming album or not (tho, my guess is that it will) but she has performed the song live at an Obama campaign rally before. Having given the song a few listens, I can say that I’m really glad that she is sharing the song with the rest of us now. It’s an upbeat song full of hope with that classic Mimi sound. Click below to give it a listen, see what you think.

Mariah Carey capped a happy night of watching President Barack Obama secure a second term by releasing a celebratory song, called “Bring It On Home.” Premiering on, producer Jermaine Dupri’s website, Carey first performed the slow jam track at a campaign event earlier this year. “We just everyday people trying to make it through the pain,” she sings in the song’s lone verse. “Yet we intentionally hurt each other playing silly games. But when it comes down to win or lose, don’t give up the fight. Strength is what we need, and love can save our lives.” She cautions, “So when you’re down and frustrated let em all keep debating because we gonna win.” The rest of the song is a series of gospel-tinged chants of declarations like “I know we can bring it home!” and “Bring it, bring it, bring it,” and at one point (02:25) Carey breaks out her trademark high-pitched whistle.

The song is dope, I really love it. Mimi was in a great mood last night after President Obama got reelected and she couldn’t contain herself on Twitter:

Carey reveled in Obama’s victory in a series of tweets throughout Tuesday night. Earlier, she posted several photos showing her at her polling place. “Congratulations to our beloved President Barack Obama, our spectacular First Lady Michelle Obama & the adorable Malia & Sasha,” she wrote. “We love you!” After watching Obama’s acceptance speech well past midnight, she offered this review: “INCREDIBLE SPEECH!!!!!! Watching in a room full of diverse people-all truly moved. Thank you America for President Obama-4more yrs.”

I’m happy, too, Mimi … yes I am. I’m happy that you gave us this beautiful song and I’m happy that Obama will be our president for the next four years. Happy Day all around :D Are you happy with this track? Do you dig it?

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been waiting all day for you to post this. First Trent, a correction. This is NOT a studio version. This is the only time she performed the song. This was live at the campaign rally you mentioned a few months ago. The clapping at the end lets us know this & when she says “Thank you” at the end. This is LIVE!!!! Live instruments & LIVE MARIAH!!!!!!! I was almost late for work listening to it at home. I love the jazzy feel of this song. This is just perfection to me. MARIAH FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!

    • @RANDAL — OY, sorry, you are right. I’ll amend the post.

It’s live that’s been produced afterwards. Her vocals are not that pitch perfect no more. And that’s not a bad thing, it’s just life.

Either way, it is a great song, for a modern Mariah song. I just miss this sorta music she used to deliver. This reminds me so much of that moment where Mariah was in full force of her career/sound and she transitioning towards a more urban sound. Emancipation was a great album/sound, but I feel since then she has attempted to hold that when the industry/radio has moved on from that.

I hope Mariah can Bring It On Home with the new album.

I too have been waiting for this song to come out, ever since Mariah performed it at a Obama fund raising event at Sarah Jessica Parker’s house. It’s great.

  • Daniel

THIS is the Mariah we’ve been waiting for. Live instruments, simple melodies, and the VOICE. YES.

  • Michael

Yeah, this isn’t polished enough for Mariah to be the studio version. However, my ears are dancing with joy….cant wait for the new album. I hope there are more songs like this one. :)

  • Lynne

I’m so feeling this one! Now, THIS is a triumphant song! :)
