Stephenie Meyer Threatens The Release Of New ‘Twilight’ Books

The FINAL Twilight film is just about to open in theaters but DON’T YOU FRET NONE, Twihards … according to author Stephenie Meyer, there are “other” stories to be told about the Twilight characters and she says that one day, she might actually write books about them. At this point, Meyer has not yet committed to penning the books but she does say she will kick around ideas and write out some stuff for her eyes only. HMMM. Honestly, I would be a lot of money that Meyer will eventually release more Twilight books … they are money in the bank. Like it or not, Twilight remains undead.

Just when you thought it was over, it’s not! Twilight author Stephenie Meyer refused to commit to the rumor that she may write additional volumes of her already elaborate teen vampire saga at a press conference for the final film in the series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2. She did say, however, the idea of more blood, sex and tears in future books wasn’t impossible either. In fact, she admitted to having already thought through the entire story. “I planned out where it would go for a couple more books,” she said. “So, I knew exactly what would happen,” of the storyline that involves Jake, played by Taylor Lautner in the films, and Renesmee, played by Mackenzie Foy, following the end of Breaking Dawn. “There are other characters who I think would have a lot of voice in those coming stories,” she said. So, Stephenie, when are you going to pop the laptop and start typing…? “Maybe someday, I’ll write it out just for myself. We’ll see,” she said apprehensively to a room full of eager reporters in Beverly Hills.

In her interview, Meyer goes on to say that even if she doesn’t write the books herself, she isn’t totally opposed to someone else taking up the Twilight reigns to pen new books. Honestly, I think that’s the best course of action. Having read all 4 books myself, I can honestly say that I do not find Stephenie Meyer to be a good writer — at all. Her characters would be much better served in the hands of an adept author who is capable of far better writing than she can muster. I get why she’s being all coy about new books … the plan right now is to focus on the final Twilight book. But mark my words, in a few years we will have a new Twilight book. It’s gonna happen, trust me.

    Oh please no…

What she really means is she will continue the series when the money stops rolling in or publishers don’t buy her next work of literary genius (eye roll.)

My initial reaction was, beside the obvious monetary reasons, WHY?! But saying “she isn’t totally opposed to someone else taking up the Twilight reigns to pen new books” kind of irks me. An author selling away the writing rights to their own massive baby? Eww, JKR would never do that. NEVER!

But back when I was still into Twilight (*smh at myself*) and was still processing the atrocity that was Breaking Dawn, Meyer mentioned Leah (from the wolf pack) and Renesmee as the characters whose futures interested her the most.

Didn’t she come out with a few chapters of Twilight written from Edward Cullen’s point of view?

I would die if Midnight sun was printed, I would literally die. Everyone knows she has a half finished book, one day I hope to read the whole thing. Or maybe y’all don’t know, back in 2008 an unfinished manuscript was swiped from her possession by someone she knows and circulated widely on the interwebs. It almost prevented the completion of the series. she opted to post the purely unfinished Midnight Sun on her website since everyone had it anyway.

Could this be a sign of a Twilight reboot a la Marvel comics!!!!

I just broke down last week and read the Midnight Sun draft. I knew it wasn’t complete but in my head I was all “just make it to the meadow scene and I’ll be happy” of course not, stupid chapter right before it and it ends. I would really hope she would finish MS because it would easily be the best book in the series. I mean, we’ve been waiting over 4 years, can’t she just finish it?

I guess I’ll be selling cookies door to door to raise enough money to pay her off from making any more of these books.
