HBO’s Cancelled Series ‘Bored To Death’ May Be Coming To Theatres

If you ever saw a single episode of the HBO series Bored To Death, then this may be the best news ever. After three seasons, the perfect show (perfect!) was inexplicably cancelled and I haven’t been the same since… but true love never dies. And I’d like to think all of my longing has not been in vain, as Ted Danson (who starred alongside Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galifianakis in the show) is spilling some beans about a possible Bored To Death movie in the works. Indiewire has the story:

As great as HBO generally is, even they are prone to boneheaded moves, and when they decided to cancel the wickedly funny and charming “Bored to Death” after its third season, we were heartbroken. A faint glimmer of hope appeared over the summer when Ted Danson revealed that there was movement brewing for a potential 90-minute movie. And now, according to the actor, things are definitely closer to coming together.

“The deal is about to be signed. [Creator Jonathan Ames] is writing it as we speak. I’m very excited,” he said at 5th annual GQ Gentleman’s Ball (via Wall Street Journal). Right on…

Of course, fans want to know where the characters are now, and Danson offers a window of where the movie will take them. “I think Jason becomes a policeman, which means, for him, a traffic cop,” Danson said. “He’ll have a traffic-cop go-kart kind of thing. And I think Ray and I move in together, both of us without relationships. And then: hijinks. All hell breaks loose. That’s about as much as I know.”

That sounds perfectly fine by us. Of course, HBO is taking the “no comment” route at the moment, but here’s hoping that “Bored to Death” gets one more victory lap.

OMG. PLEEEEEEAAAAASSSSEEEEEE let this be true! This was one of those shows that I totally, accidentally stumbled upon. Like, it came on after I was watching something else and I didn’t feel like looking for the remote to change the channel, and before I knew it I was in lurve. And yet… I still have some catching up to do. Methinks I better cop the whole series on DVD before this movie comes out.

PITNBR Sam, where you at?! Any other Bored To Death fans out there? Are you freaking the freak out right now?!

Hellz yeah! I mean, I believe you can’t truly find your inner nerdom until you have watched this show. One of my favorite theme songs ever! (Plus, I’m in love with the Schwartzman brothers…both of them, Jason and Robert…but that’s another topic, lol) AH! Hopefully the movie will happen!

how freaking exciting is this?!?!? i can not explain to you my disappointment when this was cancelled last year. i was so into this show, i instantly fell in love with all the amazing nonsense that was always perfectly captured with in the 30 of this show. b/w the nonsense the over indulgence in wine and green + BK + and older yet still sexy ted d. it was a recipe for hilarity and amazingness. fingers crossed over here for sure!

Why do they always cancel the best shows??? I seriously hope this movie gets made. It will pretty much complete me. I love the cast to death! Chalk it up to the Arrested Development Syndrome. Too damn smart for it’s own good!
