Saoirse Ronan Of ‘The Lovely Bones’ Takes The Lead In Wes Anderson’s New Movie

'The Grand Budapest Hotel' Gets A Femme Lead

Methinks Saoirse Ronan is about to blow up, y’all. She’s got the lead in a new Stephanie Meyer‘s film The Host (so of course people are dubbing her the ‘new’ Kristen Stewart), and now we’re getting word that she’s taking the lead in Wes Anderson‘s new flick, which I’ve been obsessing over for some time. Now a lot of you weren’t too excited about the trailer for The Host, but I think Ronan will be amazing to watch alongside Adrien Brody, Jude Law (both rumored to be in the movie), Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, and the rest of the awesome cast of The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Indiewire has the report:

Wes Anderson‘s “Grand Budapest Hotel” has mostly been developing under cover of night, but yesterday the director himself spoke up about the movie. He revealed that it takes place 85 years in the past and is inspired by the films of Billy Wilder and Ernst Lubitsch, which sounds just fine to us. And just 24 hours later, a new cast member has joined, an actress that will be a fresh face amongst his usual troupe.

Saorise Ronan has come on board the film, and while plot details are still under lock and key about the movie set in a Hungarian hotel, she’s nabbed the female lead. So yes, it’s another story focused on a young person. But no doubt, she’ll been having a fun time on the movie joining Bill Murray, Jude Law, Ralph Fiennes and Jason Schwartzman while Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Adrien Brody, Willem Dafoe and Owen Wilson are among those who have been rumored, but not yet confirmed.

So, who else (along with Trent) lurves Saoirse Ronan? I saw her ages ago in Atonement (for which she got the Oscar nomination) but would you believe I’ve never seen The Lovely Bones?! Agh! But I was drawn to this story because 1.) I’m obsessing over Wes‘s new flick, and 2.) I’m in the middle of reading The Lovely Bones. I know. I’m crazy late, but I’m reading it so there! And I’m def watching the movie when I’m finished. Anyway, I sooo see her in this movie! She’s got the Wes Anderson look (there totally is one) and I cannot wait to see this film!

  1. I have also never seen The Lovely Bones but I read the book and I didn’t like it personally. I LOVE Saoirse Ronan, she was excellent in Atonement and Hanna. My love for her is also very strong because she is a fellow Irish girl and she’s doing the country proud :)

  2. She owes me a refund for “The Lovely Bones”… I still get angry knowing I paid for that movie.

I despised the Lovely Bones as well [her acting was fine, just hated the movie...thought it was too sappy]. But I loved her in Hanna. Awesome!

  4. Jude

Saoirse Ronan will never be the “new Kristen Stewart”. She is an actress in the purest sense of the word. Stewart is a movie star who could only dream of having Ronan’s talent.
