After a successful premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival back in September, Joss Whedon’s film version of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing was picked up by Lionsgate for theatrical release next year. As you may recall, we saw some new promo photos from the film over the Summer but today we get our first look at the first teaser poster for Much Ado … check it out below.
Whedon famously (and secretly) shot the film over the span of a few days after he wrapped Marvel’s mega-budget The Avengers. The modern-day adaptation stars a number of Whedon regulars, including Alexis Denisof, Amy Acker, and of course Nathan Fillion. This promo poster features Denisof and Acker front and center against the backdrop of a neat title treatment … The film also stars Clark Gregg, Reed Diamond, Fran Kranz, Sean Maher, and Jillian Morgese.
I love it … black and white — and PINK … what’s not to love? As you may recall, I have a strong personal vested interest in this film because, ahem, I am an extra in the film. And while I’ve yet to see it for myself, I am VERY MUCH LOOKING FORWARD to the HUGE SUCCESS that Whedon’s Much Ado may enjoy with critics and at the box office. As I understand it, the film very likely won’t hit theaters until next Spring (at the earliest) so we still have some time to wait. I’m glad for this teaser poster release tho, it’s nice to be reminded that Whedon’s take on Shakespeare will hit theaters relatively soon :D
