‘The Wolverine’ Releases A First Teaser Poster

Last month we got to check out the first promo photo for the forthcoming sequel film The Wolverine, starring Hugh Jackman in the on screen role he originated in X-Men, and just a few days ago we got to see the second promo photo for the film. Today we get to see the FIRST promo POSTER for The Wolverine, despite the fact that the movie won’t hit theaters until July of next year. As you can see below, this new poster is more of a teaser rather than a full on character poster … check it out.

Following the films’ live Q&A [Monday] afternoon, 20th Century Fox has revealed the first official teaser poster for James Mangold’s The Wolverine, coming to theaters July 26, 2013 … Starring Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Brian Tee, the film has now been revealed to, contrary to early reports, take place after the events of X-Men: The Last Stand. Based on the celebrated comic book arc, The Wolverine finds Logan, the eternal warrior and outsider, in Japan. There, samurai steel will clash with adamantium claw as Logan confronts a mysterious figure from his past in an epic battle that will leave him forever changed.

I think it’s still a bit confusing to know for sure the timeline of events from this film as they relate to the earlier X-Men and Wolverine films (unless you’re a diehard comic book fan) but I suppose it really doesn’t matter too much to casual fans. I really love the way they rebooted the X-Men franchise by taking the story back to the 60’s in X-Men: First Class. I’m really surprised, actually, that they are still pushing this Wolverine spin-off franchise. The first Wolverine film didn’t really do that well. Still, I love Hugh Jackman in the role so I’ll be seeing this film for sure. This teaser poster is a neat one … and it’s only the first of many promo items to come in the next 9 months.
