Watch: ‘The Carrie Diaries’ Releases A Season Preview

'Sex Isn't Everything'
Carrie Takes Manhattan

Back in May Trent shared the first trailer for The Carrie Diaries, the prequel TV series to Sex And The City. That trailer quickly got removed and I didn’t get to see it, but today we get another look, which is awesome! This month the CW released a season preview trailer and it gives us a pretty good sense of the very 80s, very teen vibe the show has to offer. Young Carrie (played by AnnaSophia Robb) returns to school having recently lost her mother, while her close friends have been working on losing their virginities. Awkward! We also get to see Carrie‘s first inroduction to the glorious city of Manhattan. Based on what I’m seeing, the show looks totally cutesy and hella cheesy… and I still can’t wait to tune in, lol. I’m especially excited about the music; I was kinda jammin’ during this preview. Peep the video for more! Will you be tuning in to The Carrie Diaries come January?

SO cheesy! I feel this is geared towards high-schoolers (or even younger). Don’t think I’ll be tuning in.

A big enough plot point in SATC is that Carrie’s dad left her and her mother when she was very young. Not that this show needs to be JUST LIKE SATC, I can’t watch it because I know major differences like that will bug me.

    • This series is following the plot of the books in which her mother dies while she’s in her teens.

I understand that. I hate that Candace Bushnell changed that about Carrie, considering the Carrie Diaries were released YEARS after SATC began airing. It’s her prerogative as a writer to change her characters as she sees fit, but it’s hard to me swallow as a fan for years and years growing and identifying with this character as she always was.

  3. This makes me miss Jane by design (an ABC family show just recently canned).
