Must Watch: The New ‘Django Unchained’ Trailer Introduces Jonah Hill And Delivers More Kerry Washington

Yes! Please! THANK YOU.
The 'D' Is Still Silent

Finally! A Django Unchained trailer with more Kerry Washington! I’ve been waiting for this y’all. We’ve seen a couple of trailers for Quentin Tarantino‘s new movie, but we’ve never seen one with this much Kerry Washington face and we finally get to see Jonah Hill‘s character. So now I’m officially, officially, crazy excited for this movie. Interestingly enough, I recently heard that one of my fave actors Nate Parker turned down Jamie Foxx‘s role as Django (after reading the script), which kinda makes a girl go hmmm… More on that later.

Looks awesome! Tarantino’s on a role with these revenge fantasies

Supposedly, Will Smith also turned down the role because of issues with the script.

And (supposedly, again) those who have read the script, seem to think that Kerry Washington’s character is not a positive female role at all. Apparently the script requires her to be pretty naked through half the movie, and the other half is about who gets possession of her. A woman’s body is not her own indeed. heh.

In any case, I guess we will have to wait and see for ourselves. Sometimes folks make a big deal out of nothing. The director is brilliant, and I trust Mrs. Washington’s judgement. I love just about everything she has done thus far.

    • Matthew, thanks for sharing this. I’d heard about Will, but nothing about Kerry. Based on description– and the images we see in the trailer I can imagine that her role might be like that. However, she is playing a slave. To be even a little bit historically accurate, the movie would HAVE to show that she ‘belonged’ to someone. Anyway, it’s going to be interesting to see how it pans out. Quentin Tarantino has a way of dealing with race that doesn’t ALWAYS sit well with me, even though I am absolutely a fan of his work. But I suppose we’ll have to wait & see!

Lol, no– a woman’s body is not her own. Though, it’s probably not anyone else’s either ;)
