Last night, for the first time ever, I got to see Jakob Dylan’s band The Wallflowers LIVE in concert here in LA. I’ve been a fan of the band since their debut album came out in 1996 … like many other people, I was seduced by the band’s biggest hit single One Headlight. I can’t say I’ve been the biggest fan of The Wallflowers but I really enjoyed their music … when they were putting it out. After the band broke up and Dylan went solo, I kind of just lost interest. I was very happy to learn that The Wallflowers reunited to make a new album together and KNEW I had to see them in concert when they announced a reunion tour. Their show at The Fonda Theatre last night was exactly what I was hoping it would be … a time capsule back to 1996 :D
As I said, I haven’t been the biggest fan over the years but the music of The Wallflowers reminds me of a very important time in my life. I was 20, in college and living on my own … all the music from 94-96 really takes me back. I was very happy to hear and see that the band can still rock out. They played many of their hit songs but also focused on new stuff from their new album. BUT, I went to the show to hear the classics … like their big hit One Headlight:
Man. I really loved last night’s show. I’m so glad I got to see this band in concert FINALLY. I’m not lying when I say I was teleported back to 1996 last night … and it was a very nice feeling.
Tonight, David and I will be making our way to the Staples Center to see Madonna in concert as she brings her MDNA World Tour to LA. I’m very excited to see the show again but I’m really excited for David to finally see it for himself. He has been working so hard lately, I can’t even tell you. I’m not exaggerating one bit when I tell you that I haven’t seen much of him in days. I’m really glad he is able to take time away from his bizzy schedule to see Madonna tonight … I know he’s gonna love it. If you’re at the show tonight, come say HI! Happy Wednesday! Happy MDNA Day!!0
