This new Terrence Malick film is starting to sound out-of-control amazing. The director who brought us The Tree Of Life and The New World just finished shooting Knight Of Cups, which stars Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, and Freida Pinto. The Oscar-nominated director is now in Austin, Texas shooting his next film which has such an amazing cast, I don’t know what do with myself! Michael Fassbender is now on board with the currently untitled project, along with Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara and a host of others. Click inside to learn more!
Indiewire has the story:
Untitled for now, the film follows two intersecting love triangles and is a story of sexual obsession and betrayal set against Austin’s vibrant and colorful music scene. This picture also stars Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett and Natalie Portman, in addition to leads Ryan Gosling, Rooney Mara (“The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo“) and Haley Bennett. Moving at a speedy pace and shooting on the quick, since every actor in Hollywood is dying to have the experience of working in a Terrence Malick movie (even if the chances are high they won’t make the final cut), the director has had myriad thespians drop by in both recent films for what are likely small day parts and cameos. Holly Hunter was the latest actor spotted frolicking in Malick’s new drama and today a photo, albeit a blurry one, has surfaced of Michael Fassbender (“Shame“) on set next to Ryan Gosling (ladies will love this one). Fassbender had been shooting Ridley Scott‘s “The Counselor” in London (it resumed production on September 3) but it’s unclear whether this role will be anything more than a glorified cameo (seems doubtful), but we really won’t know until further details surface or someone corners the “Prometheus” star.
Indiewire, you are half-way correct. Ladies AND many-a-gentleman will love the Fassy/Ryan/Christian combo platter headed our way. I am sooo looking forward to both of these Malick projects; The New World is one of my fave films ever and I cannot wait to see what he’s come up with!
Before this untitled project drops I think we’ll see Michael Fassbender in his next collaboration with Shame director Steve McQueen in Twelve Years A Slave. Methinks 2013 is gonna be a sweet year for the movies. But then again, 2012 hasn’t been so bad either.
