Last month Christina Aguilera announced the forthcoming release of a new album titled Lotus. Today she gives us our first look at the album cover. Now, at first glance I … I mean, the photo is … I … um … yeah, you have to see the album cover and judge for yourself. I don’t quite know how I feel about it. In general, I like it. I like the concept of the album. I like that she is recreating the birth of Venus painting and using the lotus flower as the vessel from which she is reemerging from. Although I feel that she is a wee bit washed out with her bleach blonde hair and the color of the background, I appreciate her boldness in displaying this vulnerable side with her nude body despite all the scrutiny she is recieving lately regarding her weight. I personally feel that she looks amazing and has transitioned beautifully into the womanly body that comes after reaching full maturity and motherhood. I feel people are being way to harsh saying that she is ‘fat’. When i think fat I think morbidly obese to the point where your health is at risk. To me she looks healthy and great. But let’s not judge the album by it cover; lets wait for the music to speak for itself.

….NO. I was planning on buying this album, but the fact that “Your Body” was edited to a family friendly version, and now this cheap ass cover…NO.
Miguel, there’s apparently going to be a cd that you can buy with the explicit version of ‘Your Body’. I think her management just decided to have only one version at first so that it would debut higher on itunes.

Trent, you know I’m a I’m a hardcore fan but this is just…no. I mean why? I have always had a real problem with hair over boobs in general, The whole coochie=lotus blossom thing is meh, and its just not even a cute pic. She looks like she’s jumping into strawberry quik… That actually would have been more interesting… She needs a new stylist and a dope art director in her life and she needs to just do what they say because she has no taste of her own most of the time. She’s so talented and pretty but she always seems to get in the way.
She should have just put a pic of herself from the your-body video in the eating-ceral scene on the cover, that “rich bitch” necklace scene was a good look.
I feel like she was trying to go for the venus goddessy look but turned out more whaddaya want from me with the hands.
You know what? My beef with this is that she can’t be telling the press that she’s proud of her “fat” body one day, and be photoshopped beyond recognition the next. Or be strategically shot from the bust up for her music video, with a couple of vertically extended body shots. It’s not a congruent message, simple as that.

It’s not bad. It’s better than a full face of makeup with that horrid red lipstick some women wear. Still, she would look ten times hotter with a more normal blonde hair colour instead of that white.
