Great news for fans of Kelly Clarkson today … homegirl has announced that she will be releasing her first greatest hits album next month. Titled Greatest Hits – Chapter 1, Kelly is making it crystal clear that she intends to release future greatest hits compilation albums … a sign that she is planning a long and successful music career. In addition to a collection of Kelly‘s already released hit songs, she will also include on this new compilation 3 new songs including a new single titled Catch My Breath (due out next week). Global superstar Kelly Clarkson is set to release Greatest Hits – Chapter 1 on November 19th. This greatest hits compilation will feature three new tracks from Clarkson as well as a compilation of some of her greatest hits to date. Kelly’s new single, “Catch My Breath” is set to impact radio and will be available for sale at all digital providers on October 16th. “Catch My Breath” is co-written by Clarkson, Jason Halbert and Eric Olson. Earlier this morning, Kelly posted a note to her fans on her Official Website expressing what this album and new single means to her. She states, “It’s been a decade now since I won American Idol. Sometimes it feels longer because although it has been exciting that was a lot of pressure to have as a 19 year old girl. To own a company, lead an organization as a business woman, and be able to create music I’m proud of has been tough but inspiring for me. To celebrate the strength and longevity that my fans, friends, and family have supported me with I wrote this song “Catch my Breath” with one of my best friends that has seen me through everything. This song represents who I’ve been, what I’ve felt, and where I’m headed as not only an artist but as a 30 year old that is now smart enough to know that it’s time to stop, catch my breath, and be proud of not only what has been accomplished but of all the people that have helped me become the woman I am today. The song will be part of my first ever greatest hits coming in November. Thank you everyone that has been a part of my career and life. Here’s to another decade of passion and fun! I hope you like the song…its coming next week!”
Yay! This is great news. I am really looking forward to the release of 3 new Kelly Clarkson songs, believe that. I am also excited to hear which of Kelly‘s hit songs will be included on this first greatest hits album. As you can read above, Kelly has yet to announce the tracklisting for this greatest hits album. I love that she’s already planning on releasing future chapters of greatest hits albums because I know she will continue to bring the hits for many years to come. BUT, I gotta say, as excited as I am for Kelly‘s first greatest hits compilation, I’m really wishing she’d put together an album of her greatest COVER SONGS. Wouldn’t that be amazing? HMMM.

As great as this greatest hits album will be, does it mean that no more singles will be released from her current album (the album title slips my mind at the moment). In my opinion, there are a couple more songs that could be singles from that album. I can understand that they want this album out in time for the holiday season, but it seems a bit rushed and too close to the release of her last album. I guess that is the way of the business though…
I agree. The album, Stronger, is barely a year old and only had 3 singles. Granted, Dark Side bombed (unfortunately) but there are SO many other good and radio friendly songs on there, it’s kinda surprising they’d do this now. But the silver lining is that we get three new tracks! And as long as they don’t use her Dallas Cowboys songs as one of them, I’ll be happy to hear ‘em! :-)
