Rockstar Marilyn Manson (real name Brian Warner) decided to name himself and his band after two pop culture giants — Marilyn Monroe and Charles Manson — in an attempt to comment artistically on the way our society celebrates celebrities and infamous criminals alike. For all the years that Marilyn Manson has existed, there has been no real contact between Charles Manson, currently serving out multiple life sentences in prison for murder, and Marilyn Manson … until now. Charles penned a letter (on a postcard) to MM and, unsurprisingly, the letter has been posted publicly so that it can make its way to MM. Click below to see the bizarre letter and read the full text of the message. It’s weird, I gotta say.
To Marilyn Manson –
It’s taken me a long time to get there from where I could touch M. Manson. Now I got a card to play – you may look into my non-profit, ATWA, and give Manson what you think he’s got coming for Air, Trees, Water, and you. Or I will pay Manson what you think Manson got coming – the music has make Manson into Abraxas Devil, and I’m SURE you would want some of what I got from what I got. It’s a far out balance. Beyond good and bad, right, wrong. What you don’t do is what I will do – what you did a sing-along, and let it roll and said how you saved me a lot of steps – I don’t need, it’s not a need or a want. Couped – coup. Ghost dancers slay together and you’re just in my grave Sunstroker Corona-coronas-coronae – you seen me from under with it all standing on me. That’s 2 dump trucks – doing the same as CMF 000007
OK. On the surface, this rambling text doesn’t really seem to say anything that makes much sense but there has to be some message being conveyed here. While it’s possible that Charles Manson is just unable to formulate sane thoughts anymore, I think he’s smarter than that. Who knows? It remains to be seen if Marilyn Manson will take the bait and will respond but my guess is that he will respond … and he will let us all know what he has to say in response. Honestly, i hate even mentioning the name Charles Manson, let alone the thought of blogging about him. But, considering what an impact Marilyn Manson has made on pop culture based off of the play on Charles Manson’s name … I thought this was worth passing along. Who knows, maybe these two will become prison pen pals? Knowing MM’s penchant for loving negative attention, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he decided to foster a friendship with the crazed murderer.
