Trent Reznor Announces New Music, New Shows & A New Member Of How To Destroy Angels

Wow! I’ve got some AMAZING new information to pass along for all you Trent Reznor fans! One day after we speculated about the possible release of a new EP of songs from his new band How to Destroy Angels, we get official confirmation that YES, a new EP titled An Omen is on the way. BUT we also learn that the band is releasing a full length album early next year (!), that they are planning to perform concerts (!!) and that they have added my friend Rob Sheridan to the group (!!!). OMG, so amazing! Click below to check out a new HDTA promo photo and read the full announcement message from Trent Reznor.

Sorry for the radio silence lately… I’ve been busy! There’s a number of things to be revealed over the coming months. Some you may expect, others you may not. Patience, my friends.

Today’s news is about my band How To Destroy Angels. I’m happy to announce we’ve formally partnered with Columbia Records for our next series of releases. The first of these will be available in November and it’s called An Omen EP. As you may have guessed, it’s an EP. It contains six songs, some of which are from our full-length LP which is coming early next year.
We are making some videos, we are going to be performing live, and that’s all the details I have for now on those matters.

Regarding our decision to sign with Columbia, we’ve really spent a long time thinking about things and it makes sense for a lot of reasons, including a chance to work with our old friend Mark Williams. There’s a much more granular and rambling answer I could give (and likely will in an interview someplace) but it really comes down to us experimenting and trying new things to see what best serves our needs. Complete independent releasing has its great points but also comes with shortcomings.

We are all very excited about you checking out the new stuff. Wish I could tell you more, but you know how this works… it would take all the fun out of it!

Stay tuned!

This is another promo photo of How to Destroy Angels, featuring members (from left to right) Rob Sheridan, Mariqueen Reznor, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross along with a blurb from the just-issued press release:

How To Destroy Angels is a collective from Los Angeles composed of Mariqueen Maandig, Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Rob Sheridan. An Omen EP will be their debut release on Columbia Records, available November 13th digitally and on 12″ vinyl.

YAY! Now, of the major announcements listed here … I can say that only the release dates for the music are news to me. News of the shows and Rob’s inclusion in HTDA is information that I’ve been DYING for the world to learn. I can’t even tell you how excited I am by all of this new info, especially now that it has been officially announced. That being said, I know one other BIG big of info that … I can’t share. BUT, I suspect now that Trent has broken his “radio silence”, we will be hearing more AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING news soon :D AHHHH!!! Stay tuned, indeed!!

Wow so how do you know this information? Rob Sheridan tells you?
I am awaiting news of NIN music and of the TV series for Year Zero! I bet what you know has something to do with one of these things ;)

Trent is pals with Trent & Mariqueen. He went to their wedding (and blogged about it! Just do a search) and has been to a bunch of family get togethers. Inside I am dying of jealousy- but thrilled that he gets a bit of an inside track on the Reznor fam.

Cannot freaking wait! I don’t know how you are able to keep quiet about such valuable info Trent.

Interesting the signing with Columbia Records.

The first release from HTDA was a bit underwhelming for me, but not bad. I’ve been a fan since “Broken”, so I always over-hype myself. I’m almost hoping there is no NIN news so he just focuses on one thing right now, though I’ll end up owning it regardless. Good to hear something from him, I just assumed he was enjoying married life for a bit before getting super busy again. I hope we do get some “Year Zero” related news soon!
