Watch: Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, And Eddie Redmayne Offer An Exciting, Extended Look At ‘Les Misérables’

Truthfully, Amanda Seyfried’s name should have been in the title because she absolutely blew me away in this new Les Misérables featurette. I haven’t seen many of her films so perhaps others (like Mama Mia fans) are familiar with her singing, but I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to hear her as Cosette. A while back we saw the first trailer to this film adaptation and many of us were excited to see that the movie (directed by The King’s Speech director Tom Hooper) had a seriously authentic feel to it. Especially thrilling was the voice of Anne Hathaway who plays Fantine. Anne, along with Russell Crow, Eddie Redmayne (LOVE), Hugh Jackman, and Samantha Barks come together in this amazing featurette and bring us a behind-the-scenes look at the highly-anticipated film. The cast and crew seem most excited about the fact that their adaptation does the unthinkable with live (rather than pre-recorded and then lip-synched) singing. This all looks pretty epic and I have a very short time to read the 1,000+ page novel by Victor Hugo, but the more I see of the film, the more I’m desperate to explore the original! Check out the video and brace yourselves for Christmas Day, when Les Misérables hits theatres.

I have a love/hate relationship with musicals. I have seen some that were so powerful and moving (non-movie version of Cabaret, etc.)…and then there are some that are so cheesy that I just can’t stomach it. Mama Mia was the first Meryl Streep movie that I couldn’t watch all the way through because it made me cringe.

That being said…I think this version of LM is something I could totally get behind. I LOVE that they are actually acting the songs, instead of just showboating. That engages me so much more.

Chills…. I sense and Oscar nom for Anne.

Was going to say the exact same thing, can’t imagine anyone else beating her out for this. Much deserved.

And to think what that poor girl put her body through for a consecutive year while filming Les Miserables and TDKR makes her even more deserving in my eyes.

Every time I hear Anne’s rendition of “I Dreamed A Dream” I literally get chills, and bearing in mind that I don’t know the context of the song, as I haven’t read the book or seen the musical, it’s a testament to the emotion that can only emanate from a live performance. Can’t wait for this to come out!!

I am so excited for this movie. I love Les mis, both the French novel and the musical. Every time I see a new promo clip, I have complete faith in the actors and filmmakers that it will be amazing.

I believe Amanda Seyfried starred in “Mama Mia” on Broadway, so of course she sings well….
