Hello You Fool, I STILL Love You!

Before there was Martin Solvig, before Dr. Luke … and way before Max Martin — there was Roxette. For some reason, Sweden is home to some of the MOST infectious pop music in creation and back in the very late 80s/early 90s, Roxette was the band that entertained and charmed the world. It’s been decades since Roxette has toured the US and this year the have returned. The band has been on tour since February but I had to wait until last night to see them in concert — for the first time EVER! Last night’s show here in LA was the second to last show of the tour (they are in Mexico City tonight) and they put on a really fun show. Click below to check out photos and video from last night’s concert.

In the years since Roxette has been out of the spotlight, singer Marie Fredriksson endured cancer treatments back in 2002 and, as a result, she is much frailer and unable to move around the stage as she used to. BUT, I am happy to report that her voice and her spirit are just as strong as ever and Marie performed an excellent show. Her longtime musical partner Per Gessle was the energetic one on stage and as a team, they gave us a Roxette show that I will never forget. When Roxette was at the height of their fame, I was too young to see them in concert … so it was important for me to be able to see them perform live. I recorded some of their song performances last night, here is video of one of my faves … their hit single Joyride:

Here is video of It Must Have Been Love:

And here is video of Dangerous:

I managed to get a second row ticket so I was up close to all of the action … I had a blast. I’m not sure if Roxette will tour again any time soon but if they do and you get the chance to see them, you cannot miss this show.

This morning I’m having brunch with David before I prepare for my next long run. I’m not sure if I’m going to run today or tomorrow but I need to go for a multihour run soon. It’s been a few days since my last run so … I gotta get back to my training. I hope you are having a great Sunday and a fabulous weekend!!

I’ve been told that she can’t see out of one eye or read or write. Considering all she has been through she is still rockin it! I saw them at the Boston show and it was fantastic.
