Indy In IMAX

The TV Guide

Last night I met up with my friend Josh for a screening of the classic 80′s film Raiders of the Lost Ark in IMAX. For the first time ever, Raiders is in IMAX theaters for our viewing pleasure. I honestly couldn’t even tell you how long it’s been since I’ve seen the movie in full … but I can tell you about the first time I saw the film. Raiders of the Lost Ark was one of the first movies I ever saw at the movie theater and I remember not really understanding what was going on for most of the film and then being terrified when the Nazis had their faces melted off once the ark was opened. This time around, I truly loved every second of the film.

The film holds up surprisingly well after all these years. Sure some parts of the film look a bit cheesy now (esp those fight scenes) but the story is a great one and the Indiana Jones character is still flawless. I was very surprised by how good Harrison Ford looks in Raiders. He’s a hottie in the Star Wars films but, damn, he’s a bona fide hunk in Raiders of the Lost Ark. Altho I didn’t really understand the plot when I saw the movie as a child, I did recognize a few iconic scenes from the movie … the snake pit, the fight scene at the airport and, of course, the face-melting Nazis. If you get the chance, you must see Raiders of the Lost Ark in IMAX. I believe it’s playing in IMAX theaters across the country thru the end of the week so … there’s still time. You won’t be sorry.

I have no plans for today, I think I’m going to take things nice and easy. I need to go for a run but I’m prolly gonna hold off until the weekend when I have time to run 16 miles. Wish me luck. Happy Thursday!

Oh man, lucky! The Indiana Jones movies came out before I was born (The first two anyways-the only ones that count!) and I grew up watching them on VHS with my older siblings. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Raiders of the Lost Ark and always wished I could see it on the big screen. I wonder if Canada is doing this too!

  2. The Indiana Jones trilogy is one of my favorites of all time. My brother and I used to watch them constantly with our dad when we saw him on weekends. Now, when I see them it takes me back to that time.

And yeah, Harrison Ford could get it. Back then and probably even now, haha.

HAHAHhahah! Trent, the ark face-melting scene scared the bejezus out of me too, back in the day! I always told myself that if I was there, I would shut my eyes FO SHO. Now that’s some wonky eye worse than Paris.
