Robert Pattinson, Sofia Vergara, And Other Celebs ‘Stand Up 2 Cancer’ In LA

All For A Good Cause

Last night some of you may have caught the Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon event on a number of network television channels. The event brought out many celebrities and I was thrilled to see so many of them putting their big names towards a good cause. In addition to Robert Pattinson and Sofia Vergara, Ty Burrell, Tim McGraw, Justin Timberlake, Jessica Biel, Julia Roberts, Alicia Keys, Jordana Brewster, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Olympian Gabby Douglas were some of the celebs in attendance. Many of them spoke about their personal relationship with the disease. Actor Michael Douglas was there, and talked about his experience surviving throat cancer and Ty Burrell of Modern Family lost his father to the disease in 1989. Gwyneth Paltrow is an executive producer of the Stand Up 2 Cancer telethon; she lost her father to cancer as well. Far too many of us can relate to these losses– or know somebody who can. I’m glad these celebrities are standing up for a worthwhile cause. Peep the gallery for more and visit Stand Up 2 Cancer to donate or learn more.

  1. That Taylor Swift song, Ronan, wrecked me last night. I literally cried for hours after watching it and felt compelled to read the blog that inspired the song. As the mom of my own sweet, little boy, it was just so devastating to read about another mother’s loss. Oh my gosh, it made me so emotional!!

  2. Commented on this photo:

Breast Cancer Awareness Month is just around the corner and I have learned of a breast cancer PREVENTION vaccine that can save more than $86.44 Billion in healthcare costs in this country, per year.

A preventive vaccine, developed by Dr. Vincent Tuohy of the Cleveland Clinic was found to be 100% effective in preventing breast cancer in mice. Even mice bred for a high incidence of breast cancer failed to develop it when the vaccine was administered. Further, researchers found that mice already infected with breast cancer saw a marked reduction in tumors after being given this vaccine.

Funding for The Pink Vaccine would have a tremendous affect on millions of lives as well as on spiraling health care costs in our country. The $6 Million needed to move forward with clinical trials is a drop in the breast cancer bucket yet women continue to be diagnosed, and others die every day of this horrible disease.
