‘The Vampire Diaries’ Season 4 Releases A New Promo Photo

Last week TV Guide gave us our first look at a new promo image from the forthcoming 4th season of The Vampire Diaries that supposedly shows us what Elena looks like as a vampire (honestly, she looks the same to me but … whatta ya gonna do?). Today, The Insider brings us our first look at a different promo image that features the 3 main charactersStefan, Elena and Damon (played by Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder respectively) — all dressed up in a spooky looking cemetery. Considering the fact that all 3 characters are dead, I’d say the setting is fitting. Click below to see the full size image.

The Vampire Diaries is one of TV’s most daring, inventive and well-paced shows — but throughout all the death, destruction and genre-redefining twists, it’s been the central relationship between Damon, Elena and Stefan that has kept fans ravenous for more. But all bets are truly off as the three are forced to redefine, re-evaluate and rethink their relationship now that Elena has been turned into a vampire. And as you can see in a new photo, exclusive to TheInsider.com, things are quite grave in season four! They’re also painfully pretty as Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder sport killer couture worthy of an Original Ball in this brand new “family” portrait! As for what the future holds now that Elena is “of the night,” executive producer Julie Plec teases, “All these things that she’s experienced with Damon and with Stefan will have different context for her as she’s becoming this new person. This circumstance, which is pretty horrific, is going to make them all care about each other even more deeply and argue even more intensely and fracture even more greatly and love as deeply as possible.”

I have to admit … The Vampire Diaries is one of my guilty pleasures. I know, I know … I hate that I’ve succumbed to pop culture’s obsession with vampires but in my defense, I’ve been a vampire fan for years — far longer than Twilight was even a thing. That said, TVD kinda plays into the Twilight thing so, yeah, I’m kind of a bit embarrassed. Still, I can’t help that I like the show. It’ll be very interesting to see how things play out now that Elena is a vampire. The dynamic of the show will change entirely … right? I can’t wait to find out, to be honest.

    so excited about this show!

Definitely LOVE this show! I feel like the “mythology” of it is so well developed, as are the characters, but its got a great sense of self-deprecation. Every time I think I’ve got something figured out, the writers throw in a brilliant curve! I love when a show can keep me on my toes and not take itself too seriously all at the same time. I am excited for October 11th!

    • ruby

Ack! Please do not disclose possible spoilers from the book!!!! Some of us like not knowing in advance!!

    • Joan

Ruby, for what is worth, the TV series is very different from the book series (or so I read on Wiki…Never read these books). But yeah, just in case, no book spoilers! :(

    oooh i love her dress!

VD is a pretty decent guilty pleasure to have…if I say so myself. In many ways, this series is everything Twilight wishes could be.

  • Amy
    • @Amy — OMG, thank you!!

TVD owns Twilight on every level. Most importantly, the main triangle is better. With twilight most people are either firmly on team Edward or Jacob, but with TVD I find myself rooting for both brothers. Drea
