Back in 1997, Jennifer Lopez portrayed the slain Tejano superstar Selena Quintanilla-Pérez in a biopic film about her life titled simply Selena. It is commonly held that J. Lo‘s performance in that film jump-started her music career which proved to be very successful in the late 90′s/early 00′s. Last night, on Lopez‘s concert stop in Dallas, TX, Jennifer performed a cover of the Selena song No Me Queda Mas in tribute to the late singer … and she managed to win the hearts of every single person in that area. Check out the video and see for yourselves. J. Lo owes a lot to Selena, it’s nice to see her remember and respect that fact.

She was like a phoenix that rose from the ashes of Selena’s death/ life. She really does owe her success to snagging that role thanks to her similar build to Selena. I wonder what would’ve come of Selena had she not been taken and where her career would have gone. She had so much talent and just seemed like such a sweet and kind hearted person. It is nice to see that Jennifer hasn’t forgotten. Actually makes me like her a tiny bit :)
Selena was a bright star who left us too soon and I have no doubt that she would have managed a huge crossover career. I love JLo, too. This was beautifully performed, but all I could think about was THAT DRESS! OMG, she just looks amazing here.
Beautiful tribute to Selena. I don’t doubt that J.Lo would have made it big without the movie. She’s a very driven woman. However, it sure didn’t hurt her career. GORGEOUS dress, super tight arms!
Aww…. Awesome.
~ Playing Selena changed everything for JLo! And the film helped so many people discover Selena’s music! Selena Vive!
Love J.Lo. Love that song. Not impressed though
