Earlier this year we learned that Missy Misdemeanor Elliott was planning her return to music this year and it looks like that time is NOW. According to NME magazine, Missy‘s longtime collaborator Timbaland announced the forthcoming release of two new singles from Missy sometime next week (the first week of September) on his official Twitter profile … which is GREAT news except for the fact that I can find no evidence of this tweet announcement on his profile page. Click below to read what NME has to say and see what you think about the promise of new Missy music.
Missy Elliott is to unveil two new singles at the start of September (2012). The rapper’s last album, ‘The Cookbook’, came out in 2005 and her follow-up, ‘Block Party’ has been in the works since 2008. In recent years, she has limited herself to occasional guest spots on singles by Katy Perry and J Cole. However, her longtime collaborator Timbaland has now revealed that Elliott’s comeback is imminent. He took to Twitter to make the announcement yesterday (August 25), posting the following message:
oh snapp yall my sista @MissyElliott is droppin her singles #9thinning and #triplethreat labor day weekend. watch it world we backk!!!
Labor Day, a national holiday that takes place on the first Monday in September in the US, falls on September 3 this year (2012), meaning that Elliott’s singles could premiere as soon as September 1. Elliott joined Timbaland to perform both tracks, ’9th Inning’ and ‘Triple Threat’, at a one-off live show in New York this April (2012).
Either Tim deleted this tweet from his profile or this report from NME is wrong. The NME report HERE has the tweet in question embedded from Twitter … but, I am having a hard time believing that Timbaland would tweet “oh snapp yall my sista …” In any event, we know these two singles, 9th Inning and Triple Threat, exist so it’s entirely possible that we will hear them officially very soon. I think it’s worth being very hopeful that this news is true. We know Missy is planning to release new music very soon so … why not next week?
