Rufus Wainwright & Jörn Weisbrodt Got Hitched!

Back in April of 2010, singer Rufus Wainwright revealed that he was planning to marry his boyfriend Jörn Weisbrodt. About a year later, it was revealed that Rufus fathered a child with Lorca Cohen, a baby girl that he planned to raise with Jörn and Lorca. Today we learn that Rufus and Jörn FINALLY got themselves married in a private ceremony in Montauk, NY last night. Click below to see the newlyweds on their wedding day and read some deets about their nuptials.

“One day you will come to Montauk … hope you won’t turn around and go,” Rufus Wainwright sings on the piano-driven ballad “Montauk” (from his latest album, Out of the Game) about his favorite seaside town. On Thursday, friends and family flocked to the rustic beach community at the end of Long Island to see the singer marry his longtime partner Jorn Weisbrodt. And no one left early! Wainwright, 39, and Weisbrodt, the German-born artistic director of the Luminato Festival, wore custom Viktor & Rolf Monsieur and were married by a longtime friend, the artist Justin Vivian Bond. The Salome Chamber Orchestra and David Aron Carpenter played during the ceremony and Rufus’s sister, singer-songwriter Martha Wainwright, also performed. Other notable attendees included Alan Cumming, Julianne Moore, Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon, artist Marina Abramovic, Antony Hegarty (of Antony and the Johnsons), Ingrid Sischy, Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, Lou Reed and Laurie Anderson, Carrie Fisher, Mark Ronson and Natasha Lyonne. The happy couple ate lobster rolls, local corn, steamers and clams, toasted with Nicolas Feuillatte champagne, and danced into the wee hours to tunes spun by deejay team AndrewAndrew – as well as Mark Ronson.

Yay!! I am so happy for Rufus, truly. I’ve been a fan of his since his debut album came out many moons ago. His debut album, full of forlorn songs about lost love, really resonated with me at the time of its release … so Rufus will always hold a special place in my heart. I’m just so thrilled that he has finally found the man to settle down and marry. Let’s send all of our love and best wishes to Rufus and Jörn on their happy nuptials and wish them a life filled with immeasurable love and happiness. Congrats, you two! LOVE LOVE LOVE!
