Back in June we saw the first photo of Angelina Jolie in character as Maleficent in the forthcoming Disney film of the same name. About a week later, we saw Ang on the set of the movie filming some very exciting-looking scenes. Today we learn that Angelia will be starring opposite one of her children when the film opens next year. Actress Elle Fanning has been cast in the role of Briar Rose / Sleeping Beauty as a teen in Maleficent but today we learn that Angelina‘s youngest daughter Vivienne Marcheline will portray the young Sleeping Beauty. How cute!
Walt Disney Studios has confirmed that Angelina Jolie’s daughter Vivienne Jolie-Pitt will make her feature film debut alongside her mom in Disney’s live-action Sleeping Beauty spin-off Maleficent. Vivienne will play a minor role as the child version of Princess Aurora, who later becomes cursed to an eternal sleep which can only be awakened by a true love’s kiss (yeah, yeah, we know that story…). Four-year-old Vivienne will play a younger version of the princess, while Elle Fanning (14) is set to play the older version of Aurora. Maleficent explores the origins of Disney’s most iconic villain, Maleficent, and what led her to curse Princess Aurora in Disney’s animated classic Sleeping Beauty. Its basically Disney’s take on Wicked and how that paralleled The Wizard of Oz. Maleficent is set to hit theater on March 14th 2014.
And so it begins … Vivienne becomes the first of the Jolie-Pitt children to break into showbusiness. My initial reaction is that it will be really cute to see Viv on screen as the young Sleeping Beauty but … now that she is an actress, how long until the rest of the Jolie-Pitt kiddies want to break into showbusiness, too? I guess we’ll have to wait and see if Vivienne‘s casting is a slippery slope into showbiz Hell or if it’ll be a one-time thing but … something tells me that Zahara Marley is gonna want a piece of the action, too. Here come the Jolie-Pitt kids, Hollywood. Are you ready for them all?

I’m sure Viv’s part will only be a couple minutes at most. I don’t have issue with this, still looking forward to the movie!
