30 Apps For Those In The Know

Get Your App On!

Okay, so remember the other day we got to check out those ridiculous apps that Complex magazine dubbed, “The 10 Apps Your Girlfriend Doesn’t Want You To Have“? Yeah. No. None of those made this list. Inside are 30 fun, funky, and futuristic apps that don’t help you get your creep on, but do help you with the important things in life. Like picking a name for your indie rock band… because ‘Teddy Bears On Kush‘ is currently is taken. Check out 30 apps for those in the know, inside!

1. Ocean Tower
This android app is a crazy fun strategy game where you build a gigantic skyscraper in the middle of the ocean. You know you’ve been dying to do that! And since my brothers say it’s cool, you can rest assured– it’s cool.

2. How To Cook Everything
This iPhone app is for when you want to creep on the guys at Pop-Up Pantry… and actually cook your own meal, lol. From the New York Times Bestselling cookbook by Mark Bittman.

3. Sonos
Control all of your music, from everywhere with the awesomeness that is the Sonos Controller.

4. Talking Ginger
It’s 2012. We all love a ‘talking’ cat, and now there’s an app for that :)

5. CityBeats
For those of y’all repping the UK (or wishing you were), here’s an interactive music app by Manchester City- showcasing the great up and coming bands from around the UK. You get to remix tracks and share the mixes with your friends. Sweet!

6. Vodio
Another social video-watching app like Densa or Showyou, Vodio is hella cool because it offers a personalized rotation of video clips that also incorporates clips from social media. Nice!

7. Tweetbot
Take your twitter experience to a whole ‘nother level with meticulously-crafted interface, sounds & animation, or features like multiple timelines & smart gestures.

8. Yelp
Yelp is pretty much the 411 for apps, so yeah. You kinda need this in your life… how else will you find that awesome Mexican joint Trent and I went to?

9. Bento
Get your life together! No seriously, this app helps you get your life together, at least on the organization tip. Keep your contacts in order, track projects, plan events, and manage lists with this lil’ lifesaver I sooo need right now.

10. Dragon Dictation
Five times faster than typing on a keyboard, this one is an easy-to-use voice recognition application that allows you to speak and instantly see your text or email messages. Awesomeness.

  1. Downloaded Ocean Tower and HopStop. Thanks. HopStop is going to be a lifesaver. Mulling over 7 Poets.

  2. navifan

If you travel a lot in Europe the app Öffi is amazing. It will tell you how to get anywhere from anywhere in the city you are staying in in real time. I use it all the time in Berlin.

    • navifan, thanks for commenting. It’s been a while since I hit up London, but the next time I make it over to Europe I’ll totally check it out. It sounds really useful.
