Susan Flannery Is Leaving ‘The Bold And The Beautiful’ After 25 Years

Earlier this month we learned the sad news that original castmember Ronn Moss is leaving the long-running CBS daytime drama The Bold and the Beautiful after 25 years reportedly due to a contract dispute. A couple of days later, we learned that Moss’s character Ridge Forrester will likely be recast with a different actor. Today we learn the equally sad news that fellow original B&B castmember Susan Flannery is also leaving the show after 25 years. This time, it sounds like Flannery’s exit will be more amicable but still … B&B is losing two of its core four castmembers after 25 years on the air! Dang!

THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL is apparently coping with the exit of not one major star, but two! Soaps In Depth has learned that Susan Flannery (Stephanie), one of the show’s “core four” who has been on the soap since its 1987 premiere, has told the powers-that-be of her intention to leave the show. A source tells us the actress has signed a short-term contract with B&B to allow executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell some time to strategize in terms of storyline. The news comes a little more than a week after Ronn Moss (Ridge) announced he was leaving the role. A B&B rep confirmed that Flannery recently signed a new contract with the show but stated, “It’s our policy not to comment on the terms of actors’ contracts.” One bright note in the midst of all this disheartening news: Katherine Kelly Lang (Brooke) issued a statement on Friday saying she’d be sticking around. “I’m very happy to tell you that I have re-signed my contract with THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL for two more years,” says the actress. “Brad has come up with an exciting new storyline for Brooke that I think the fans are going to love.”

This is crazy! The core four original castmembers are the heart and soul of The Bold and the Beautiful. Now that 50% of the core four will be gone, it seems evident to me that the producers are looking to change up the show considerably. I’m heartened by the fact that Katherine Kelly Lang (who plays Brooke Logan Forrester) and presumably John McCook (who plays Eric Forrester) are sticking around but … Ridge Forrester (Ron Moss) and Stephanie Forrester (Flannery) will be missed. If Ronn Moss is being replaced, I wonder if Susan Flannery will be replaced as well. Her character, Stephanie, is the matriarch of the show … I cannot image B&B without her. This is crazy. In a year’s time, B&B might be completely unrecognizable … but is that a good thing or a bad thing?

That’s terrible! I love Brooke and Eric, but without Ridge and Stephanie, the show will be totally disemboweled . I have been watching since the show opened in 1987, so without those 2, I feel like I’ve been caught in the rain somehow. But the Young & the Restless is so exciting (although I find it unconscionable that Felice was allowed to escape her crime) that I am sure some of that excitement could be diffused into The Bold & B. The Steffy-Liam-Hope triangle is so tiresome. It is totally spent and shld be allowed to peter off. Also, isn’t there a story line for Thorne, Jackie, Nick, et al.? Whatever became of them?

Who care about Thorne, Jackie and Nick? They are so boring!!! I was happy tp hear that Susan was leaving such BUTTHOLE! Ron just has to be replaced but for some handsome man….not that the is that handsome. But the back & forth with Ridge, Brook & Taylor (Taylor is another boring person) is just as rediculous Liam, Hope & butthole “Stephie”.
