Alanis Morissette Debuts Her New Album LIVE In The Sonos Studio In LA

The TV Guide

Last night my BFF Darion took me as his guest to a private Q&A and live performance by non other than Alanis Morissette at the Sonos Studio here in LA. As you may know, Alanis is readying the release of her 7th album Havoc and Bright Lights and she teamed up with Sonos to give a few lucky fans an up close and personal introduction to her album. For the first half of the night, Alanis answered some questions about her new album (among other things) and the second half of the night, Alanis performed a short acoustic set of songs. Click below to see some photos and watch video of her performance last night.

We were able to sit right up close to the stage where Alanis first was interviewed and then performed. She talked about her new role as mom, the creative process that led to the recording of her new album and a host of other topics. Unsurprisingly, Alanis was incredibly well-spoken, offering insights into areas of politics, spirituality and motherhood. She is truly a delight to hear speak. BUT, most people were there last night to her her perform. Here is video of Alanis‘s performance of her song Hand In My Pocket:

And here is video of Alanis performing Guardian, the first single off her new album:

Darion and I had such a blast. It was very, very cool to be able to see one of our favorite artists in such an intimate setting:

Major props goes out to the folks at Sonos because they really know how to treat their guests. The studio space is really cool and very spacious. We were fed tasty food and were given free drinks … it was classy, y’all. MUCH MUCH lurve goes out to Darion for taking me as his guest last night.

Today is a rare totally free day for me. I have things that need to get done so I can take of biz on my own schedule. I hope you are having a great Tuesday! Wee!

  1. Hatsze

Thanks for videos :-) You”re a lucky guy you could be there…

  2. This is why I’m always so jealous of you and D, Trent. You, Darion and I seem to share the same favorite artists (Alanis, arbage, Tori Amos) and I always wish I could tag along with you guys to these events.

I absolutely loved “Havoc and Bright Lights.” I got my hands an advance copy and spent this past weekend with it on repeat. “Woman Down” is perhaps my favorite song from the whole album, closely followed by “Numb” and “Edge of Evolution.” I only got a standard copy, so I’m looking forward to hearing the bonus tracks that come with the deluxe edition. However, if the bonus disc from “Flavors of Entanglement” is any indication, they’re sure to be amazing.

Just a warning, though…the next event that you’re to attend that has anything to do with Tori and someone is getting chloroformed and their spot taken by me. I’m just sayin’.
