Drake And Chris Brown Are Officially Being Sued For The NYC Club Brawl

$16 Million, Please!

It’s been a while since we heard anything about the fight that went down back in June between Chris Brown‘s camp and Drake‘s people at W.i.P. nightclub in NYC. Following the incident, Chris released a diss record against Drake, and Tony Parker filed suit against the club for $20 million over an alleged ‘scratch retina.’ Now it seems that the two celebs at the center of this story will finally have their day in court. Drake and Chris Brown will be co-defendants in a case made by Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., a company invested in W.i.P. nightclub; they want $16 million for their trouble. Deets inside.

TMZ has the story:

Entertainment Enterprises Ltd., which has a financial stake in the NYC venue where the brawl went down, claims in the suit that both stars “shared a grudge against the other arising out of their romantic relationships with the same woman.” In case you were vacationing under a rock … it’s Rihanna.

EEL claims in the suit — obtained by the New York Post — when Drake and Brown crossed paths, they “began to fight violently with each other.”

The suit goes on … “Each arrived with his own small army of bodyguards, ‘security’ personnel, employees, friends and other members of their entourage consisting of at least 15 heavily built men trained and/or experienced in hand-to-hand and weapons combat.”

The lawsuit says both Drake and Chris each ordered their goons to take care of business.

The suit also credits the crews of both Drake and Chris with ingenuity, claiming they “fashioned deadly weapons out of whatever materials they could find, including glasses, alcohol bottles and furniture.”

The suit asks for $16 million in damages.

I know some of us were curious as to whether or not Drake or Chris Brown would be held directly responsible for the fight and it looks like that’s exactly what’s happening here. If y’all remember, this fight was no joke. Many people were seriously injured and somebody is definitely going to have to pay. Although, none of this money (I’m assuming) is going to those injured in the brawl.

What do you guys think? Is this the proper punishment for Drake and Chris, if they are, indeed, forced to pay up? And can you believe that all this was really over Rihanna???

  1. What would happen if it was just two non-celebrities in a huge bar brawl? Arrests and a day in court to hash out who has to pay what? That sounds like the case with these two, so I think it’s appropriate.

    • Serenity, I can’t imagine 2 non-celebs being sued for 16 million, but I think you’re right. In this case, it sounds appropriate. I just wish the people who were physically hurt were getting a slice of this.

    • I wonder if any of in injured parties have bought up lawsuits? I don’t know a lot about how the law works in cases like this, but if any other patrons sued the bar, it seems feasible that the amount the bar needs to pay to the patrons (or potentially pay) is calculated into that 16 million.

    • Other than NBA player Tony Parker (who was there), nobody else has sued. And I’m not sure if the club will have to compensate the others who were injured, but I hope so.

Two “young” adults…who can’t conduct themselves in a respectful manner when hanging out. The amount they are asking for is outrageous but we all know why. Maybe they will learn from this incident. Highly doubtful.
