It’s been ages since I’ve seen the original 1976 version of Sparkle, but I remember it left quite an impression on me, and so I wasn’t sure that I’d be into a remake. A while back Trent shared the first Sparkle trailer for the new version starring Jordin Sparks and Whitney Houston and I was definitely reminded of Dreamgirls… I think mainly because of the cheese-factor that you can’t help but notice. But this new trailer/sneak peek features Cee Lo Green (who plays Black, lol) belting out I’m A Man with that glorious voice of his, and it’s got me kind of excited about the film! Cee Lo the Lady Killer was absolutely made for this era and I think movies like this are best experienced as celebrations of music at a particular, unique time. I can’t wait to hear the other songs Cee Lo and the other very singers of the cast will perform. And even if the movie does not pan out (or isn’t as good as I remember the original to be), I’d still pay good money to hear Whitney Houston sing His Eye Is on the Sparrow. Nothing like a good cry-fest in the theatre :)
Check out Cee Lo Green (who is in talks to do another album with Goodie Mobb!!!!!) in the video and tell me if this one is doin’ it for ya.

Great vintage vibe! Real feel good. I like the way this movie was filmed. The women in it are all galaxy gorgeous!
