First Look: A Teaser Is Released For The Osama Bin Laden Movie

From The Director Of 'The Hurt Locker'
True Story

If you remember the Oscar-winning film The Hurt Locker, there’s a good chance you remember the name Kathryn Bigelow. The director (who also won an Oscar for the 2008 film) recenlty completed production on her next movie, the story of the manhunt for and killing of Osama bin Laden. The movie is titled Zero Dark Thirty and… honestly? I don’t know how I feel about it! I’m probably being a bit hypocritical–because I definitely watch violent movies with no qualms whatsoever– but something about this story makes me a bit hesitant to see the film. Maybe it’s because it’s only been about a year since President Obama announced that bin Laden had been found and killed by members of the U.S. military; it’s so soon! But I’m always excited about new movies and good directors so I’m keeping my eye on this one; check out the teaser for a first look.

There’s also the Jessica Chastain factor at work here. She stars in the movie (alongside Joel Edgerton from Warrior, Kyle Chandler, and Chris Pratt), so I kinda have to watch. What do you guys think? Are you looking forward to seeing this story come to the big screen?

Zero Dark Thirty hits theatres December 19.

Not for me. Never understood how The Hurt Locker could win an oscar.
And that Bin Laden story…nobody knows what really happened and making a movie about it will be just pure fiction and speculation.

I’ll check it out, just in theatres is unlikely since it will be released in Australia 3 months after the US as they do with 90% of the Oscar contender films. Altho I don’t want them too, but I’d rather see a Homeland season address this over a K.Big film.

I agree with Isabelle – I did not think Hurt Locker was that terrific. I reckon Precious or Inglourious Basterds should’ve won – or even Up or Up in the Air, I’ve seen all of those more than once and would again over watching Hurt Locker again. I guess a big reason is cause critics and producers were all going on about how realistic it was for a war film, yet it was just about a dude with an ego problem that disarms bombs. Kanye could’ve been in the film and it probably would’ve been more interesting for me.

    • JCZ, you know what’s so funny? As I was writing this I turned to the love of my life and I’m like I know we saw Hurt Locker, but what was the big deal??? When he reminded me of the plot, I remember thinking it was cool… but not necessarily epic (I couldn’t even remember the details, lol). So maybe it got more hype than was deserving but seeing as how I can’t exactly remember the movie, I won’t say for sure.

LMAO. Kanye! The day he starts making movies… oh boy…

    • JCZ

Umm Shannon you spoke too late about Kanye actually. He created a short film callee Cruel Summer for the upcoming album. I assume it’s similar to his Runaway film but he premiered this one at Cannes, so he must be taking himself a bit too seriously with this it. I do appreciate the dude and his large talent, but he needs someone interrupting him on a podium for once.

At this this new ‘film’ stars Kid Cudi (I believe) instead of Yeezy.

  3. I think the reason the Hurt Locker got so many kudos was because the way that it racheted up the tension. Some moments of that film were so intense!

I think this movie will be very interesting. I am glad they have released so many details of the raid…at the end of the day, those actions are being done in OUR name. We should at least be privy to some of the details after a mission is complete and everyone is out of harms way.

    seems pretty fluffy to me.

  5. i just dont understand how they can make this movie. no one knows what really happened – unless these writers know something we dont.

    • When the raid happened, I remember seeing digital re-enactments of how everything happened on many news channels. They also talked about how they had to fly in to a remote area, and then walk for miles and miles in the darkness before they got to the compound. It seemed that they released a lot of information around that time.

    • The accuracy of the movie might have something to do with the classified leaks to filmmakers that congress is investigating.

  6. Anything about OBL makes my skin crawl and my stomach churn. As far as I’m concerned, he overstayed his welcome on planet earth, and to resurrect him, through the magic of film, feels wrong to me.
