Seriously? This is exactly what I was hoping wouldn’t happen. But it’s happening. Usher Raymond and Tameka Foster are back in court and this time 11-year old Kile Glover‘s death is being used as a tool by both parties. The two have been engaged in a drama-filled custody battle which was put on hold after Kile‘s tragic jet-ski accident. It even seemed, for a moment, that Usher was willing to drop certain claims and requests, in the interest of making Tameka‘s life a little easier. But since Kile‘s passing, it now seems that there may have been another agenda at work, and Tameka is slamming Usher for not being supportive of her at all. Among other things, she claims that Usher only came to see his former stepson once while he was in the hospital on life support. Get the rest of the unfortunate details inside.
TMZ has the report:
Tameka Raymond‘s lawyer has filed new documents in the couple’s bitter child custody war … slamming Usher … who asked the court to delay the next hearing in light of the death of Tameka’s son, Kile, who was killed in a jet ski accident.
In his request, Usher claims he’s worried the hearing would cause “unnecessary stress and strain” for both himself, Tameka and their two minor children “in the immediate wake of this tragedy.”
Usher also claims Tameka would get an unfair advantage in the hearing because the court would not want to rule against a woman who is still grieving the death of her son. Usher fears he could lose custody of the children and believes it would be unfair to him.
But in docs of her own … Tameka’s lawyer claims Usher is full of crap … insisting U’s claims of suffering “stress and strain” are “BOGUS.”
In fact, she claims Usher didn’t care about her son at all in his final days — even though Usher regarded him as a son back when they were married.
“[Usher] visited Kile in the hospital only once” during his 15 days on life support … Tameka claims.
She also claims she had begged Usher to tweet a message about her son, “Please pray for Kile” … but he refused. Instead, Tameka claims, Usher’s next tweet was a photo of his own breakfast with the caption, “Breakfast of Champions.”
Speaking of twitter, Usher sent this message out to his fans yesterday, after this story broke:
I miss you too. Silent is golden moments like that are worth a million expressions. Not sayin much cuz I’m tryin not be
#misunderstood. URIV— Usher Raymond IV (@UsherRaymondIV) August 2, 2012
Honestly? It just gets ridiculous sometimes. If all of this is true, then I suppose Tameka has a right to be angry. And it’s hard to pass judgment on somebody who’s grieving for the loss of her child. It just seems like everyone in this story has ulterior motives, because Tameka has also said that the best way for her to heal would be to complete the custody hearing so she can put it behind her.
But, if I understand the system correctly, the purpose of a custody hearing is to determine what’s best for the children… right??? And Kile Glover isn’t even one of the children in question (Tameka and Usher‘s children are Usher Raymond V and Naviyd), so it seems strange (and a little off-putting) that his name would become a part of the discussion.
Here’s hoping they can come to a resolution that makes sense for their two little boys who, I’m assuming, desperately need both of parents healthy and at peace.

Ok, custody battles, epecially in the wake of a family tragedy, are horrendous. However, if Usher had concerns about his children’s welfare or their mother’s behavior before his stepson died, it’s not like that stuff will just go away. There are just no easy answers. They couldn’t get along to stay married so they’re obviously going to disagree on how to raise their kids. Hopefully the court can come up with a solution that works as well as possible for everyone, especially the children.
Zanne that’s a really good point. These problems were not going to disappear, but I kinda hoped they would! Thanks for commenting.
