Earlier today learned that Victoria Beckham is featured on the cover of the new issue of Glamour magazine (an issue that she also guest edited). Right now we learn that her hubby David Beckham is featured on the cover and in the pages of a magazine of his own. Becks is the new coverboy for British Esquire magazine and as you can see below, he does a good job of giving good face. He is one of England’s greatest ever football players but his fame off the pitch has sometimes eclipsed his amazing talent. Despite having played at some of the world’s best clubs David Beckham still worries about how he will be remembered after he kicks a ball for the last time. The 37-year-old Los Angeles Galaxy star is firmly in the twilight of his career but does not yet look close to retiring from an award winning career. When asked how he wanted to be remembered, he told Esquire magazine: ‘Just as a hard-working footballer. I want to be remembered firstly as a good and successful footballer because that’s what I’ve done for many years. And then who knows after that?’ His work as a model and global fashion icon has made him a household name as much as his ability with a ball, and it has become easier with age. During a glossy photo shoot he told the magazine: ‘It’s definitely got easier over the years [taking his clothes off for photo shoots], but when I was in New York, seeing a huge poster [of himself in a pair of briefs] on the side of a building, that was quite daunting. I remember driving past there, and stopping and running out and taking a picture, and this guy walked past me and he was like, ‘Oh, my God! Have you seen your dick up there?’ Something disgusting like that. That was funny.’ David’s status as a bona fide celebrity has afforded him to mix with the brightest and best names in the world – he lists future king of England, Prince William as a ‘friend’. He told the magazine: ‘It’s a very normal relationship. With Harry as well. They’re very easy to get along with. They love their sport. William loves Aston Villa, unfortunately, which obviously I give him a bit of stick about.’ The father-of-four has had many different styles and looks throughout his career but, he is adamant that he never puts on a front. He said to Esquire: ‘What you see, that’s me. And that won’t change. I might not walk around in just my underwear every day, but that’s the only thing [that is different about the private man]. I don’t try and hide anything. There’s nothing to hide.’
HMMM … does anyone else love that Becks has confessed to giving Prince William “a bit of stick” about his sport preferences? Yeah, I have no idea what the heck that means but I do like the sound of it. I also dig these photos quite a bit … even better, is the following video from the photoshoot:
This is a great magazine feature. I mean, yeah, most of Becks’s magazine features are great but this one looks meaty. Great interview, great photos and great behind the scenes action. This looks like a must own issue to me :D 0
