Killer Joe (described as a Southern Gothic crime thriller– yum!) opened in theaters this weekend, and although the indie film (starring Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch) is probably not gonna be the summer blockbuster, it’s got one of the coolest, scariest story lines and definitely deserves our attention. I think it helps that the director (William Friedkin) made ummm… The Exorcist?!?! Yeah. Scary.Check out the trailer and let me know what you think! I included Killer Joe in our summer movie guide because I couldn’t believe McConaughey looked like he was pulling off some serious bad-assery– and not even the sexy kind– the downright frightening kind. In short, he totally looks like a guy named Killer Joe. So there’s that to be excited about.
Killer Joe is in theaters now! The movie also stars Thomas Haden Church, Gina Gershon, and Juno Temple (The Dark Knight Rises, Notes On A Scandal) , who I am beginning to fall madly in lurve with.
