Ruby Sparks may or may not be the greatest [artsy] love story ever told. Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (the directors who brought you the 2006 indie smash Little Miss Sunshine) have created a story that artists (and lovers of all things artsy) will be excited about. Based on the trailer, Ruby Sparks might be compared to Will Ferrell‘s 2006 comedy Stranger Than Fiction. In both stories life hilariously imitates art (where a writer’s words create real events), but Ruby Sparks is taking a slightly different route. Paul Dano plays the writer Calvin, whose story actually creates a complete human being: Ruby Sparks (played by Zoe Kazan). I saw this trailer a while back and it’s finally been released with an official released date of September 6. Ya’ll know I love me some indie rom-commage, so I’m excited to see how this one turns out.
What did you guys think of the trailer? Cuteness, right? Chris Messina, Antonio Banderas, and Annette Bening will round out the cast, which means we can expect some pretty good times :)
