Is It Too Late To Discuss Emeli Sandé’s ‘Next To Me’ Single?

Better Late Than Never!

Let’s hope not. Because I have a lot to say about this song. In the wee hours of the morning when I’m blogging my heart away, the video for Emeli Sandé‘s Next To Me will inevitably play on MTV AMTV (you know the one show on Music Television that plays music) and I’m always like, Why aren’t I writing about this song right now? It’s amazing! So for all of you who are like, this song is old news– bear with me. And join me inside for an Emeli love-fest.

Emeli Sandé: Next To Me

So there’s that. “That” being, she can sing– and, dammit, I looove a singer that can really, truly sing. Scotland-born Emeli Sandé might be classified as an R&B singer or and R&B-soul singer, or even a pop singer, but whatever the genre is, she’s making damn good music.

I also love that her given name is Adele (because I don’t believe in coincidences). And more than that, I love that she has a Frida Kahlo tattoo on her arm. Quite simply, she rules.

And yes, I’m really late with this one too, but oh well! Daddy was the iTunes single of the week early last month, and with good reason:

Long-time Emeli Sandé fans, feel free to rag on me for just discovering my love for this singer! Anybody else new to the amazingness that is this woman’s voice?

Please please check out ‘My kind of love’! It’s absolutely amazing!

  2. I love Emeli…pre-ordered her album on iTunes the first time I heard one of her songs. Her whole album is fantastical. Not only does she have a great voice but her song writing skills are top notch. She’s written a host of songs for other artists as well…glad to see she’s coming from behind the scenes and making her own voice heard.

    • kiskillilla, yes I was reading about her writing credentials. Between her lyrics and the fact that she went to medical school, I’m pretty sure she’s genius-ish.

not too late shannon! I love her album! check out “where I sleep” and “suitcase”! I discovered her on graham norton when he interviewed madonna and have been anxiously awaiting the u.s. release of her album since! thanks for giving her the attention she deserves! her voice is so seamless in all the registers!

  4. Laura

I was in the audience when she was on Conan! She is amazing and beautiful live, and apparently that was her American debut. I got the album asap after that.

You should also check out Read all about it :) It’s a slower song but so pretty! It was the first song I heard by her.

  7. Dot

Shanon have you heard to Delihah? I’m curious to know what you might think of her songs.

    • Dot, I’m on Vevo listening to “Go.” Is this her? If so, THANK YOU. I likey! She reminded me of Alanis, then Fiona, but really her actual music is very different (I’m listening to ‘I Can Feel You’ now).

YES! I discovered her about 6 months ago. Her album is absolutely amazing. She is highly underrated. The copy of the album I have has a bonus track called “read all about it part 3.” It is a fantastic song! Check it out if your copy doesn’t include that tract.

    • Jack, since you and Erin recommended I found the Read All About It tracks– I realize I’d heard the first one before but now I have a little context. Thanks!
