Remember back in June when it was believed that Mariah Carey was on the verge of announcing the release of new music? Yeah, well, I’ve got a great update from Mimi herself about the forthcoming release of a new single titled Triumphant. Remember last week when it was first reported that Mariah was in “serious talks” to become a judge on the forthcoming season of American Idol? Yeah, well, apparently those talks are still very serious … and it’s apparently becoming a possibility that she will sign on for the show. Lots of great MC news to share, read on to learn more.
First things first … Mariah Carey announced just moments ago on her official Twitter profile that she will release a single titled Triumphant next month:

Woot!! This is EXACTLY the news I was hoping we’d get from Mimi when she started cryptically tweeting last month. Where there’s a new single there is oftentimes a new album … which is just too amazing for words. “Early August” is just days away so … we should be hearing new MC music very soon … again, I say, Woot!!!
As for those American Idol casting rumors, well, the talk still is that she is close to signing on board the show. Despite the fact that her husband Nick Cannon believes that Idol can’t afford to pay MC to join the show, the industry talk is still very much focusing on reports that Mariah is close to signing … says Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood:
I have learned that Mariah Carey is finalizing a deal to join Fox’s American Idol as a new judge. I hear Carey would command a salary of more than $17 million for next season, which would set a new record for talent on a reality series, eclipsing the paycheck of Idol‘s Jennifer Lopez. Carey had been rumored as a potential new judge on the veteran Fox reality series, which is overhauling its panel coming off a season that saw ratings declines in a crowded marketplace and failed to land a best reality-competition Emmy nomination for the first time in the show’s history. Fox announced the departure of Steven Tyler, while fellow judge Lopez stated publicly that she would leave too. I hear Fox moved quickly to secure Carey, who was previously courted for the network’s other singing competition, Simon Cowell’s The X Factor, as Idol has to set its taped auditions.
As with all casting rumors, I’ll believe this when the news is confirmed as true but … I can honestly see this happening. Yes, Mariah Carey would command a huge paycheck but American Idol is getting desperate. IMHO, the show is over, no question … O-V-E-R. The only way it can stay relevant is if they bring on board big name judges to lure in an audience. I honestly could give two you-know-whats about American Idol … yet, if Mariah Carey is brought on board to judge? Yeah, I’d be interested in watching … for a time. I don’t know that anyone outside of Britney Spears on The X Factor would really get me to watch one of these singing competition shows religiously … but Mariah Carey *might* cajole me into watching AI just to see her on TV on a weekly basis. HMMMM.

Mariah Carey was rumored to have been considered for “Idol” before they hired Jennifer Lopez. I really hope Mariah does not get it because I don’t think she would be a good fit for the show. But Randy, who’s always talking about his professional relationship with Mariah, would love it! (If he’s still there, that is).
im always excited for new Mimi music. the only thing im sad about, is her lead off single has feature. im not a RR fan at all…but heres hoping those features are only small parts.
as for Idol – i still think shes above that sinking ship. i could see her on The Voice long before i could see her on Idol.
I believe the idol thing when she signs on the dotted line but I hope this is just a rumor like it was before because Mariah is better then this show and its over with. Randy Jackson should stop with this crap and don’t bring Mariah on a sinking ship.
Anyway I can’t wait until the songs leaks. I’ve been waiting to hear from Mariah since her last album. With the release of her new album I don’t think she would have time to do the idol thing anyway because she always travels the world promoting it
@David don’t listen to leaks just wait until the single/albu is officially released. not only does the release of the new album put the kebosh on this but Mariah isn’t well suited to be a judge because she can’t critize people and besides she doesn’t want her children perminantly raised by nannies plus Nick’s battle with lupus so this is unlikely though she’d be getting paid about 1.1 million an episode for 16 weeks of work. though If she does I might actuall watch it but if she renewed for a 2nd season they’d have to give her at least 25% pay increase to 21.25 million and at that point she’d be planning her 25th anniversary tour which will be in 2015 as her first album came out June 12th 1990
I really think 17 million is a bit extreme for a pop star whose last successful album was like 8 years ago. It just comes off really dirty the way she plays this game of ‘I have to be paid better then…insert name here’.I dont watch idol anyways but hearing the statement ‘featuring mariah carey’ doesnt sell me on it.
I could care less about the AI rumors, until it happens its not true. I am however extremely excited for new Mariah music, I can’t wait to hear her again <3
