Oh, my dear A$AP. Say it isn’t so! But TMZ says it is. According to reports the Harlem rapper (who many of you might remember from his role as JFK in Lana Del Rey‘s National Anthem video) got into an argument in downtown NYC and when “amateur photogs” began taking pictures of the incident he and a friend quickly turned on them. But here’s the thing: A$AP Rocky‘s being charged with… attempted robbery? Somewhat confusing deets inside.
TMZ was first to report:
Rapper A$AP Rocky was taken into NYPD custody tonight after he allegedly put the smackdown on 2 guys who took pics of him … TMZ has learned.
According to law enforcement sources … A$AP Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers, had gotten into a verbal dispute with someone in downtown Manhattan, when 2 civilians started snapping photos of the incident.
We’re told A$AP and a friend quickly turned their attention to the amateur photogs … and a full-fledged fight erupted. Our sources say the two victims suffered cuts and bruises with one requiring treatment at a hospital.
We’re told responding officers arrested AR … and he’s expected to be booked for attempted robbery. It’s unclear, at this point, what he’s accused of trying to pilfer.
Rocky is a native New Yorker and member of the hip hop group A$AP Mob. He was nominated for Best New Artist at the BET Awards this year.
Also, the Karen Civil website has photos of A$AP and his friends getting arrested. Of course readers on TMZ went “the black rapper” route with their comments, which okay yeah I get it. But the last time we saw a celeb getting physical with a photographer I’m pretty sure it wasn’t a black rapper. CoughAlecBaldwinCough. But it also sounds like these really weren’t photographers so I’m not sure that we can draw a parallel. Still, it’s bad news for all parties involved. And I still don’t get the robbery thing; hopefully we’ll get more deets later.
Some day, we should all seriously consider stopping the violence.

I never thought there would be another PITNB writer that I would like. Whoever the other girl was-no offense to her, because I cannot remember her name-didn’t capture my love and I JUST WANTED TRENT.
However, after a short hiatus, I spent some time browsing PITNB recently and noticed that there was a distinct new voice – spunky, hip… street, even. I saw that it was posted by a mysterious “SHANNON.” I searched the archives and saw the initial post that introduced you. I was just charmed.
Your posts are fun. You tend to cover topics that Trent previously wouldn’t. Your kids are super cute (I’m a hard-working mommy too). You are from Somerville, MA – ME TOO. Winter Hill represent.

Rachel!!!!!!!!!!!! Winter Hill?!?!? Are you serious?!?! I WEPT when my mother pulled me out of there after 6th grade and sent me to wack-ass West Somerville, lol! I love WSNS, but still! OMG, I kid you not, I still obsess (secretly-ish) over my Winter Hill flames because I totaly had flames between grades 2-6. You just made my day bringing that school up on here!
I’m so so glad you’re enjoying the posts! Trent is amazing, especially in letting me write about the things I like. We have such different tastes, and I think it’s working out for the blog as a whole.
