Let’s Get Physical . . . Therapy

After I got a clean bill of health from my new doctor on Monday, I was sent to a physical therapy center to begin treatment for my knee pain. I honestly had no idea what to expect but I was anxious to get started so that I can say goodbye to my knee pain. What I encountered yesterday was an experience that I found totally reassuring and extremely helpful. A team of physical therapists got me started on a plan to stretch and strengthen my legs so that my knee pain will go away completely.

I was shown some exercises to help strengthen my legs and then was treated with an ultrasound technique that uses sound waves to massage the inside of my leg. After the ultrasound treatment, I was then hooked up to electrodes that stimulated my muscles with currents that made my legs twitch for 15 minutes. It wasn’t painful … but it was weird. Apparently, the stimulation helps aid in healing. THEN, I got a leg massage that just … ruled. I think I’m going to like physical therapy a lot :)

Tonight, I’ll be making my way to the movie theater to see The Dark Knight Rises at midnight. It’s been ages since I’ve seen a midnight movie so I figured tonight’s showing of Batman would be a good reason to go. I’m sure some of y’all will be joining me at the movies tonight ;) Happy Thursday!

  • I’m impressed that you’re braving the crowds to see this movie. That shows some real dedication to the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy. I, on the other hand, will be waiting at least a week until the massive crowds have died down for me to see it. Hearing only amazing things about the movie so have fun!

I went to a chiro awhile back and he hooked me up to the electrode thing too. It felt really good. I almost passed out!!! FEEL BETTER SOON BOO BOO!!! OMG, so happy you are seeing The DK tonight…I always trust your reviews.

I’m an occupational therapist and I use the ultrasound and E Stim all the time. The E-Stim definitely helps with healing – I pulled a muscle in my back and after 2-3 days of E-stiming it I was back to normal. I hope you have similar results!

  • I’ve also tried physical therapy once in my leg when I got into a minor accident before. I think its the same electrode they hooked on me to relieve the pain. I felt really good after the treatment.
