This may be the best news I’ve heard all day! Obviously, there will never be an Edward Scissorhands remake (because that would be insane… right?) so this is probably the best way to go. Those of you nostalgic for the 90s and all that was lovely during that time should rejoice at this as well… I think. It’s Family Guy, so you never know what’s gonna happen, but I’m still pumped. Deets inside!
Flavorwire has the good news:
If you’ve been missing Johnny Depp from the early days of Tim Burton (when they both resembled people and not giant paychecks), you can catch the actor in an upcoming episode of Fox’sFamily Guy. He’ll be reprising his role as the mild-mannered man with sharp scissors for mitts, Edward Scissorhands.
EW reports that it took the actor a little bit of time to get back into the role, but Family Guy executive producer Mark Hentemann told the website that “he was able to snap right back into Edward Scissorhands once [they] pulled up a clip from the movie.” Check out Depp’s “amazing” cameo when the series returns for round 11 on September 30.
Let’s hope this means better things for the actor who just broke up with partner Vanessa Paradis after 14 years, and whose movies have been lukewarm and faced rocky production periods. We’d like to think that a recent casting invite from Wes Anderson could set him straight.
OMG, this is why I go to Flavorwire! Johnny Depp and Wes Anderson (director of Moonlight Kingdom!) would probably be too much for my little heart to bear. But while we wait for that magical moment to happen, we have this upcoming episode of Family Guy to look forward to. I can’t imagine what they plan to do with Edward on the show, but it will most likely have me ROFLMAO. Maybe they’ll re-imagine scenes from the movie with The Griffins as The Boggs family that takes Edward in, lmao. Whatever they come up with, I’ll take it.
Anybody else down for a cartoon, Seth MacFarlanized version of Edward?
