A new report out by Billboard magazine claims that Christina Aguilera is readying the release of a new song, produced by Max Martin, next month. Apparently, the new track is described as a “club banger” and is meant to be a preview of Xtina’s forthcoming as-yet-untitled/announced new album. You may know that Martin is the songwriter/producer responsible for many of Britney Spears’s biggest hit songs (including Baby, One More Time, (You Drive Me) Crazy, Stronger and more). It would seem that Xtina is lookin’ to secure some of that music magic for herself, too. HMMM.
It’s been two years and two seasons of “The Voice” since Christina Aguilera’s last studio album, but new music from the veteran pop star may be arriving before summer’s end. A source tells Billboard that Aguilera is working hard on the follow-up to 2010’s “Bionic,” and that a new single is expected to be released in early August. The club banger was produced by Swedish pop hit-maker Max Martin, and its chorus is built around the line, “All I want to do is what you wanted.” Martin — best known for producing hits by Britney Spears, Kelly Clarkson and Katy Perry, among others — has yet to helm a single for Aguilera. Meanwhile, duets with Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green, Aguilera’s fellow coaches on NBC’s “The Voice,” are apparently in the works for the singer’s forthcoming album as well.
I have to confess, I am very excited by the prospect of a Xtina/Max Martin single. The man is a bona fide hitmaker, if anyone can FINALLY give Xtina a hit single, it’s Max Martin. I’m entirely bored and totally uninterested in any duets with anyone involved with The Voice but, I guess, Xtina is going to be Xtina and unintentionally torpedo her own career. I can’t say I’m a big Xtina fan at all but she does have a few amazing songs here and there. I hope this Max Martin track will be one of those hits … lord knows, the girl could use a hit.
