Banana Republic Will Create An ‘Anna Karenina’ Collection

Yes Please!

Recently we got to see the first trailer for the new movie Anna Karenina, along with some amazing photos of the film’s stars, Keira Knightley, Jude Law, and Aaron Johnson. Today we learn that Banana Republic is launching its first film-inspired line and will use this exciting new period piece as its fashion muse. I, for one, could totally go for some of those looks Keira Knightley was rockin’ in the trailer. Deets about this exciting project inside!

Here’s what InStyle had to say about Banana Republic‘s Anna Karenina-themed Collection:

Banana Republic loves to time travel! After two rounds of retro capsule collections inspired by Mad Men, the mass retailer is launching its first film-themed line, this one inspired by Keira Knightley’s new period piece, Anna Karenina, in theaters this November… Though the adaptation, true to Tolstoy’s novel, takes place in the late 1800s, Banana’s creative director Simon Kneen promises a capsule with more of a ’50s feel, thanks to costume designer Jacqueline Durran’s Dior New Look inspiration for the film. “It was historical but had a twist to it as well,” he told WWD. Think hats and coats with faux fur and “piles” of costume jewelry, ranging in price from $30 to $325. The collection will hit stores in October, one month before the film’s release.

I am dying to see what these outfits will look like. I haven’t followed Banana Republic‘s going-ons enough to be excited about what they’re doing over there, but this has me very interested. Do you guys think they’ll be able to pull off that look– 1800s/50s style? I have no clue what that will mean, exactly, but it paints a pretty picture in my head and I can’t wait for this to launch in October.

Check out what Banana Republic did with the Mad Men-inspired line in the gallery. I think they kinda nailed it.

Oh my. Love everything here. Feminine with an edge. Perfectly accessorized. Hope it’s even close to affordable. That pink dress is to die for as is the white one on the first page. Sigh.

It’s especially important to have the right dress and accessories when you throw yourself under a train.
