Watch: Lena Headey Is One Bad ‘Ma-Ma’ In The Trailer For ‘Dredd’

Care to see Game Of Thrones star Lena Headey kicking ass and taking names? With some really creepy facial scars? Dredd, an adaptation of the comic book character Judge Dredd (but unrelated to the 1995 film) premieres in September, and stars Karl Urban (as Judge Dredd) and Olivia Thirlby. Lena Headey will play Madeline ‘Ma-Ma’ Madrigal in this futuristic 3D film. Peep the first trailer inside.

Lena’s description of her character is pretty intense:

“I think of her like an old great white shark who is just waiting for someone bigger and stronger to show up and kill her. She’s ready for it. In fact, she can’t wait for it to happen. And yet no one can get the job done. She’s an addict, so she’s dead in that way, but that last knock just hasn’t come. This big, fat, scarred shark moving through the sea and everyone flees and she’s like, ‘Will someone just have the balls to do it? Please?‘”

Dredd: First Trailer
And one more fun fact: The cinematographer for Dredd (who also worked on Slumdog Millionaire) says, “If we get it right, it will be a cross between Blade Runner and Clockwork Orange.”

Now other than Lena Headey, I don’t know a ton about the other actors. But I do remember Olivia in Juno, and Karl Urban played in The Bourne Supremacy and The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers.

Anybody a Judge Dredd fan? I wouldn’t normally go for a film like this (a bit too dark and futuristic for my tastes), but Lena Headey caught my eye back when she played Queen Gorgo in 300 (although now her claim to fame is Game Of Thrones). I’ve been a huge fan for a while, and I’m always interested in her new projects. But I will say, the trailer for this one isn’t really, really doin’ it for me. And Lena Headey really does look hella creepy. I’ve gotta make a photo gallery of her ‘true self’ just to get that image outta my mind for a second, lol.

And although the two are not related, I kinda have to throw in the trailer for 1995’s Judge Dredd. It’s just too funny (and too nineties) watching Sylvester Stallone and Rob Schneider (yes, Rob Schneider) together in one action-packed space. Enjoy :)
