Marathon Mayor

Early this morning, I made my way to Griffith Park for my second week of marathon training with Team 2 End AIDS. As you may recall, I started my marathon training last week so I’m off and, um, running. This week’s training run was a pretty easy 3 miles … which, I have to say, is very cool because I never in my wildest dreams thought running 3 miles would be “easy”. As my milage increases, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 miles will be easy runs. And that is something I am very much looking forward to.

I’m still getting used to waking up and then running but … I’ll get there. Since I started my personal training back in March, I’ve done all of my running in the afternoon/evening. This weekly morning run is going to be … interesting. When I checked in on Foursquare for training today, I became the mayor! Yeah, that doesn’t really mean anything but … I like the positive reinforcement.

Now comes the FUN part … this is where YOU can help me out. Since I’m training with Team 2 End AIDS, we are raising money for AIDS Project Los Angeles (click HERE to learn more about the organization) … and I’m going to need ALL of you guys to give me your money :)

Well, OK, the money isn’t for me … it’s for the APLA, an organization that offers aid and services to those in need. From now until the end of the year, I’ll be soliciting folks for money so … give early and give often :) Trust me, I know it’s not easy to give money away but I hoping that each of you will — at the very least — forego a Starbucks drink, a movie ticket, some small luxury that you can go without once or twice to help me raise money for the APLA. You can visit my fundrasing page HERE. Feel free to pass it on to everyone you know so they can give money, too! I’ll do the hard running part, all you have to do is the easy money-giving part ;)

I don’t have plans for today but I’m mulling a few options. It’s a beautiful day, I hope you are having a great one!

  • Trent, is there anyway you can make a button on your page on the top of the site so we can remember to do so? It’ll be easier for me to view it when I can donate.

    • @Iris — I’ll see about making a donation button very prominent on the site. Thanks for your consideration :)

That’s great! I’ll definitely be donating. My father and I are currently training for our second marathon this October.

  • kat :)

So awesome! I will for sure be donating before your race. It’s been so cool to watch (??? via the blog) you get into running. I got into it a few years ago and I’m still trying to run while 8 months preggo…. can’t wait to really get back into it! Your running posts will be my inspiration :)
