Johnny Depp & Vanessa Paradis Are Dunzo, For Reals

Officially Over

Back in January we learned that longtime couple Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis were going thru a bit of a rocky point in their relationship. At the time, we learned that Johnny and Vanessa were separated, not yet broken up. Today, all these months later, we learn that attempts to save the relationship have failed … and that the couple have decided to split, for good. After 14 years and 2 children, the couple have announced today that they are officially dunzo.

It’s official: Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have split after 14 years together. The couple “have amicably separated,” Depp’s publicist said in a statement released to Entertainment Tonight Tuesday. “Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.” As PEOPLE has reported, the two drifted into living separate lives after moving to Los Angeles from France. They haven’t appeared together on a red carpet in a year and, an insider told PEOPLE about their crumbling relationship, “It’s so sad.” The couple have two children together: Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 9.

Dang, this is sad news. When rumors of the couple’s troubles started going around, I was really hoping first that they were false … then, that the couple would eventually reconcile. A 14 year committed relationship is no joke so, yeah, this is bummer news. I honestly wasn’t aware that Johnny and Vanessa were having any difficulties, after all, they managed to keep their private lives very private. It’s really unfortunate that they couldn’t make their relationship work but, I guess we can’t say that they didn’t try. I wish them both the best and hope that this split won’t be too terribly upsetting for their children Lily-Rose and Jack. Blah … just, sad.

I was so hoping this wasnt true : (

  2. and LA claims another….

I don’t know if you can really blame it on LA. They weren’t married, but close to it, and the majority of all marriages fail. It happens to many people, not just famous ones.

    • @Krissy — I agree. 14 years in a committed relationship is pretty remarkable in LA, Topeka, St. Louis or Manchester. I don’t believe this breakup has anything to do with “LA” or “Hollywood”. Some couples just grow apart.

didn’t they live in france on on their own island or something?

    • Blasted1

They vacationed on HIS island and lived in HIS house in France….but, not a-n-y-m-o-r-e.

  3. Lily

I know I’m supposed to be sad and lament the death of a relationship, but HOLY HELL Johnny Depp is single!
*hops on next plane to wherever Depp is*

I saw this on Yahoo and my first thought was, “Oh my God! Does Trent know?” then raced here to see if you’d posted it yet.

Apparently that cry of delight that I heard earlier was from millions of women when they learned of Depp’s availability.

  5. Megan

that is very unfortunate and when I heard about it in January I was excited about Johnny maybe being single, but that time has passed and I’m just sad for the family

  6. Mabel

NOOO. I was so rooting for them! ):

This is so sad. I loved them as a couple. I’ll never understand why fans celebrate when hot celebrities become single. He’s in the stratosphere. He’s not among mortals. Chances are, if he’s not already hooked up with someone else, it will be awhile before he does. Vanessa would be a very difficult act to follow.
