Welp, I had a very interesting past 24 hours … full of amazing highs and, unfortunately, a pretty shitty low. Thankfully, the highs outweigh the lows but still … well, yeah, it’s been interesting. Last night, Darion and I made our way to downtown LA for a double feature of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and The Craft. While we had the BEST time ever, I was very shocked to discover that my beautiful not-even-a-year-old car was viciously vandalized in the lit, attended parking lot I parked in. As upset as that made me, I couldn’t wallow because this morning I started my first day of marathon training with Team 2 End AIDS. See what I mean? Highs and lows.
The long and short of my night is this … Darion and I had a really fun time together enjoying the movies and then I was really, really upset to see my car damaged. Someone thought it would be cool to kick huge dents into both passenger side doors and the rear back side panel — there’s a lot of damage and you can still see the dirty footprints in the dents :( I can’t even share photos here on the blog because it’s too upsetting. I parked the car in an attended lot, under a light and away from all other cars. When I returned, there were cars on both sides, the attendant swears he saw/heard nothing and the light was flickering on and off. As shitty as this damage is, I am very grateful that nothing more serious happened. There was no accident, no one was injured and no other cars were involved. Into everyone’s life a little rain must fall and I’m *trying* to be thankful for all of the good things in my life right now … and for the fact that things could’ve been much worse.
Today is a better day. I registered and participated in my first day of marathon training with Team 2 End AIDS:
I’m officially training to run a full 26.2 mile marathon in Honolulu, HI this December. I’ll be raising money for AIDS Project Los Angeles and believe me, I’ll be coming to YOU for donations ;)
Blah … I can’t help but be bummed about my car (I couldn’t even look at it today) but, as I said, I have so many things to be thankful for. I have my health, a sturdy body that is training to run marathons … I have amazing friends like Darion who almost fell over himself last night to try and make me feel better … I have an amazing fiancée that has done everything possible to make the situation not as horrible. I met a bunch of amazing people today who are all working in concert to raise much needed money for the APLA, an organization that offers aid to those in need. In the end, my car will be fixed and this will become a distant memory. For now, I’ll prolly be a bit bummed still but I’ll get over it.
Life is, in all honesty, very good so I’m going to do my best to continue to enjoy it. Happy Saturday, y’all! Have a great weekend!0
