First Look: Showtime Releases The First Promo Photo From ‘Dexter’ Season 7

In April we learned that Ray Stevenson has joined the season 7 cast of Dexter. Earlier this month we learned that Katia Winter also joined the cast of the forthcoming season of Dexter. Last month, we got our first look at the first promo video for the new season … and today we get to check out the first promo photo. You may recall that the promo video we saw didn’t really show us anything of substance … but this new promo image does. Dexter stands face to gun with … well, someone. Click below to find out who.

When we last left Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), his sister, Debra (Jennifer Carpenter), had finally discovered that Dex was a serial killer. So what happens next? Judging from this first still, it doesn’t seem as if Deb is too pleased. Picking up immediately where the finale left off, Season 7 will open with Debra’s horrified reaction to seeing her brother kill last season’s baddie, Travis. “Viewers might think we shy away from that moment of Debra walking in and seeing Dexter stabbing into Travis’ chest, but it’s just the opposite,” says executive producer Scott Buck. “She now has to deal with what she’s seen and what she knows. And it forces him to defend and define himself.” As for Deb’s newly uncovered “feelings” for her adopted brother, “It’s ironic that people are fine with Dexter jabbing people in the heart but mortified by this romance,” says Buck. “We’re not shying away from those feelings of hers, either.”

OH MY GAWD, I cannot WAIT for Dexter to return this Fall. I am really relieved to see that the new season will pick up where the last season left off. There is no denying, the final moments of season 6 are among the most important of the entire series thus far. I would’ve been very angry if producers decided to gloss over those final moments in order to fast forward the story into season 7. I can’t even being to imagine what the interaction will be between Dexter and Deb in the scene featured above but … oh man, it’s going to be good. The new season of Dexter will premiere on Showtime on September 30. I shall be counting down the seconds.

As for this photo, what do YOU think Deb is saying to Dex?

    after reading the producer…

Take your pants off <— that was deb saying to dexter

i want to see how yvonne strahovski does in dexter, i love her :D

  • kendra

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! I seriously can’t wait for this next season! All of the emotions that came about in the last episode of this past season really set up the new season for some pure awesomeness..Ugh..I don’t want to wait so long!!

  • JillyD

Does anyone know what Deb does after she finds out in the books?

    • kendra

She kind of ignores it..She goes to him for insight to crazies sometimes, but doesn’t talk to him about details of what he does..I think the books started with her already knowing..It’ll be interesting to see if they do the same kind of thing on the show eventually..

    • JeniLee

Deb found out at end of book 1 and though it freaked her out she kinda accepts it because she uses it to her advantage since his twisted insight helps her in her job to catch the bad guys. Remember how in season 1 Deb kinda sucked at her job and NEEDED Dex’s help? Thats how she is in EVERY book. Well in 1-4. I havent read 5 and 6 yet!

  • The last season was a yawn for me… and the last five minutes of the finale made it all worth it! eeeeah!

    • Lacey

I agreed completely. They saved an entire, wasted season with the last 30 seconds. But with this picture, it gets me excited for the next season.

  • Cee

    I’m a season behind – gahhh!

  • Lauri

I’m so not excited for this season, which makes me really sad because I usually look forward to it SO much. I plan on watching it though- I hope they prove me wrong!

  • Rachael

Man, season 6 was just plain bad. I had been waiting for SOO long for this moment to happen (Deb finding out Dex’s secret), but the whole creepy incest plotline they threw in there plus the general terribleness and predictability of season 6 totally ruined it for me. I was actually just about to cancel my season pass when I saw the news today that Yvonne Strahovski has been cast for a multi-episode arc in season 7. That ruined that plan; now I HAVE to watch because Yvonne is awesome. But she will be the only reason I watch this season, unless the quality of the show makes a miraculous recovery (which I doubt).

    i can´t wait!
this is going to be amazing! Shit i can´t wait to hear all the swearing Deb must be pouring out in this scene!

Damnit! September 30th?!?!? I hope my honeymoon sweet in Aruba has Showtime.
