Last night here in New York City was the 66th annual Tony Awards. The Beacon Theatre rolled out their red carpet for Broadway’s biggest night and Neil Patrick Harris hosted for the third time. If you didn’t catch the TV broadcast, we have the full list of winners and some other details and pics from the night. Also watch a video of the wonderful Neil Patrick Harris give his closing recap performance, and the equally incredible Hugh Jackman accept his Special Tony Award…

If you are a theater or musical lover like me (actually I’m more into theater than musicals) The Tony Awards are a super fun night, not just because it’s always great entertainment, but because it is the night when the year’s best shows on Broadway are honored. This year was a great year on Broadway, in my opinion. There were truly some amazing theater performances and musical shows. I was lucky to get to see quite a few of them so I was obviously very keen to see who won the 2012 Tony Awards.
This year the big winner of the night was Once. The musical took home the trophies for Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Actor in a Musical, and the gong for best scene, lighting, choreography, direction of a musical and orchestrations. The other big winners included Clybourne Park, who won Best Play; Nina Arianda who took home Best Actress Performance for her role in the incredible, Venus in Fur, and James Corden, who won for his role in One Man, Two Guvnors.

Watch the wonderful Neil Patrick Harris’ closing recap song… ah, I love The Tony Awards! Were you happy with the overall winners from 2012′s best of Broadway?
And, watch the AMAZING Hugh Jackman accept his surprise Special Tony Award from wife, Deborra Lee Furness. The humility this man shows constantly impresses me. Love you Hugh (and not just because we have the same accent!)
